One of my guilty pleasures here is Etude House. The South Korean brand has a few stores here in Hong Kong and a combination of the princess pink storefront and interiors, K-pop artists on their adverts and the overwhelmingly beautiful packaging has me right in there at least once a week. It’s a problem.
For the glittering, K-pop look with a twinkle to the eye that is so favoured at the moment, I absolutely adore their Play 101 Pencil. Available in more colours than you could shake a stick (or pencil – hoho) at, I already have my hands on two that I use every time I wear make-up. 06 is a beautiful glittery pale pink. I’d describe it as an icy pink with both shimmer and glitter, which could be a little irritating to sensitive eyes. I wear this in the tear duct area and underneath the eyes for that bright, wide-eyed and innocent look, and it is surprisingly wearable for “everyday” as I often wear it for work when I’m not too sleepy. 04 is equally as shimmery but minus the glitter. It’s more of a soft gold shade and it works perfectly to brighten up tired eyes – think of it as the more wearable of these two. I quite like to use 04 to draw out an almond shape to my eyes in the tear duct area.
Wear-wise, these last all day with no smudging. Bear in mind that I’m now in fast-paced HK where I get to face humidity and air-con in equal measure all day and often have 18-hour days!
Paired with a tapered winged eyeliner look and lashings of mascara, this is all that my eye make-up consists of at the moment. One step closer to being in Apink and/or SNSD…
