As this post goes live, I’m currently in Amsterdam celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday! He turned 27 on the 10th and we’re still marvelling that we’ve known each other since we were both seventeen. Madness, I tell you. I thought I’d take a few moments out from our endless city-and-canal explorations to share the very first ‘Petite joys’ instalment of 2018.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the things that have brought a moment of happiness to my week, this week:
一. Milo’s little butt and tail wiggling along on winter walks in his Danish Design coat.
二. Reaching a new PB at the gym! I never thought I’d become that guy but I’m really embracing my new interest in fitness and seeing my body strive for new goals and change before my eyes.
三. A new-but-old working routine. I’ve finished up with one of my in-house clients now and so I’m back to working from home 95% of the time! As a total introvert, it feels so good to work in my own space to my own rhythm and routine.
四. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. So I might not practice Marie Kondo’s tidying methods all the time, but I finally got round to decluttering my four dressing table drawers last week and it feels incredible to open a drawer fully without something wedging it shut AND be able to see my beauty stash and odds-and-ends at a glance. It’s so great when you finally manage to find a place for all of your new Christmas gifts!
五. Booja Booja Around Midnight espresso truffles. Vegan and gluten-free and so damn tasty.
六. My Google Home Mini! I unwrapped this on Christmas Day from my boyfriend and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since.
七. Being on top of my expenses. One of my professional goals for 2018 was to track my expenses weekly in a bid to get on top of my accounts and, so far so good! My spreadsheets are all in order, receipts filed, tax return filed… Let’s do this!

九. My first intermediate Barre class! Can you believe I’ve been at this for a year?! I joined my Barre studio as part of my 2017 resolutions and last week, I was moved into the intermediate class. It is much tougher but so rewarding and still so much fun. We’ve got new equipment at the studio too and I’m so excited to get stuck in this year.
十. You. I’ve been blissfully overwhelmed with kind messages, comments, emails and more from my blog readers over the last few weeks and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve planned so much for the year ahead and can’t wait to unveil it all!
What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
