Gosh, there really isn’t anything better than England in sunshine, is there? (Before you start leaving me ideas like, ‘seeing a puppy learn to sit’ and ‘eating a Solero ice-cream all in one’, just let me have this opening anecdote please, haha.) We were blessed with a bout of sun and warmth this week and I found myself doing the obligatory London vs. Hong Kong comparison several times. FYI, it’s been warmer here!! In between melting in my car because I’ve still not been to have the air-conditioning re-gassed and taking several garden breaks to feel the rays on my cheeks, I’ve had quite the week. My business calendar is slow until May and I’m more than happy to be spending these weeks working on behind-the-scenes bits and keeping things ticking over on the marketing side.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:
一. Blue, red and white lines on those curious signifiers of a barber’s.
二. Cuddles with Coco and a daily catch-up with my favourite dog-walking companion.
三. An especially delicious soy hot chocolate sipped at Patisserie Valerie.
四. Spring-cleaning my wardrobe, ready to embrace the freshness of a new season.
五. Buds on trees, enveloped in April sunshine.
六. Perching on a spare wooden bench with a book in hand, absentmindedly running to far-flung fictional destinations whilst waiting for a friend.
七. The scrape and clink of weight plates being changed at the gym.
八. Watching on as two old friends (once-colleagues? School friends? Etc. etc.) reunite outside a coffee shop with a warm embrace.
九. Chapters closing. (You absolutely MUST read Dolly Alderton’s ‘Everything I Know About Love’.)
十. Endless compliments on new bags, new lashes, personality traits. A surefire way to make a girl gleam in delight.
