You heard it here first (except you didn’t, if you follow me on Twitter), your girl has finally booked her next beach holiday! Harvey and I are heading to Spain at the end of June for 5 whole days and nights and I can’t bloody wait to sip cocktails and read in the sun while he takes photos of me for the ‘gram. (I’m kidding. I’ll be drinking iced coffee of course! 😉 ) I haven’t had a ‘lie on the beach and do nothing’ trip since we went to Bali in November 2016 for our first ever couples’ holiday and so my wardrobe is definitely lacking in hot weather-worthy pieces.
Featured in the wishlist:
Gingham check smocked bikini set by ZAFUL ∙ 114S Oversized Round Sunglasses by Chloé ∙ Leather-trimmed bee print canvas espadrilles by Gucci ∙ Scalloped edge halter neck swimsuit by H&M ∙ Lemon print tie back dress by ZAFUL ∙ Striped linen-blend shorts by F&F ∙ Plaited tie adjustable floppy straw hat by ASOS ∙ Tie front jumpsuit by New Look ∙ Mustard floral print shirred Bardot top by New Look ∙ Watermelon round beach towel by H&M ∙ Laser-cut ankle strap espadrilles by New Look
First up, let’s talk swimwear. And let’s address the fact that your girl can’t swim. As we’re heading to a luxury resort and I don’t plan on booking a crash course in swimming, I’ve gone all out in my bikini options, knowing they don’t have to hold up while I breaststroke through the water or have to do their thang while I’m in the sea, because I’ll probably just plop myself in the jacuzzi and sauna and be done with it. Sorry, not sorry. This gingham swim top and bottoms set is already in my suitcase, but I’m dying to pick up their cami and palm print bikini set and this scalloped edge swimsuit from H&M too because, well, SCALLOPED EDGES. I’ll also be getting resourceful and packing some of the bikinis I bought for Bali (mostly because I didn’t shoot any of them, heh). I also have a round beach towel that’s going straight in my suitcase, but this watermelon one from H&M has totally taken my fancy!
Swimwear aside, my wardrobe is generally lacking in sundresses for the tumultuous British summer. How on earth I manage to rack up this many blouses, T-shirts and pairs of jeans is beyond me! And aside from wedding guest dresses, I really don’t have many cute dresses to throw on in hot weather. This lemon print tie back dress from ZAFUL is all sorts of cute, and the square neck is incredibly flattering on most body types, giving a sporty, 90’s look. I’ve also picked up this red tie front dress for slipping on for al fresco beach lunches: too cute! Next, this tie front jumpsuit (are we seeing a theme here?!) from New Look is not only affordable, it’s super cute too. I can’t wait to style mine with espadrilles. (These ones have piqued my attention!) If you’re seeking sunny separates, I’ve also spotted some adorable shirred Bardot tops at New Look that’d be great for teaming with denim shorts, midi skirts or linen trousers.
And then, we come to accessories! I tried on the bee print supreme canvas espadrilles by Gucci last weekend and totally fell for them. Only time will tell if I decide to splurge on these…! How bloody beautiful is this sunhat from ASOS? I’ve never been into floppy hats, but I suppose Instagram fever has finally got me. I also heard an insider’s tip to getting upgraded on your flight is to 1) wear a hat, and b) never wear trainers. Here goes nothing! A Bali woven straw bag is my bag of choice this holiday and I’ll be saving my luxury pieces for a summer at home. Here’s a link to the one I bought on eBay!
