Never one to pass up on a gimmicky marketing event, today is National Pink Day and I am here for it! There’s no doubt about it: millennial pink has completely taken over and as I sit here penning this post, watching Love Island under a pastel pink blanket in my predominantly pink bedroom, with a tea light flickering in my Himalayan pink salt candle holder, I am a living embodiment of the trend and movement. Because that’s what it is. Domain argued: ‘Can a colour define a generation?’ I think we can firmly establish that yes, it certainly can. The ubiquitous colour has charmed a generation that has been thus far thoroughly stamped on by much of society and who feels disenchanted by their limited options. So, what’s a millennial to do but regress and paint their world 5-year-old pink?
Fellow pink lovers, this one’s for you…
Striped button-through shirt dress by Monki ∙ Pink block heel sandals by River Island ∙ Hollywood embroidered T-shirt by Topshop ∙ A3 Miaow wall art by Oliver Bonas ∙ Bu pink and grey ceramic vase by Oliver Bonas ∙ Textured stripe bikini top and bottoms by Warehouse ∙ Mini tassel hoop earrings by Warehouse ∙ ‘Do Not Disturb’ phone case by Jasmine Dowling via The Dairy ∙ Pink Clay Exfoliating Floral Mask by Herbivore ∙ Tape strap sports bra by Adanola
First up, this shirt dress from Monki is a grown-up, cool-girl way to tap into millennial pink. Wear it buttoned all the way with a pair of backless loafers or all-white trainers, plus a so millennial backpack. Shoes kind of girl? These block-heeled sandals from River Island are so sassy and would look just as cute with raw hem jeans as they would with a dress for date night. You probably already know how partial I am to a pair of pink shoes! Of course I couldn’t create a shopping edit without including a slogan embroidered tee: this Topshop one is vibrantly coloured and I’d team mine with white raw hem jeans and sliders.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have noticed that I almost exclusively wear black, pink and mint green at the gym. I’ve no idea why, I just naturally gravitate towards those hues when it comes to activewear! I’ve currently got my eye on this sports bra by Adanola – the tape straps really remind me of the famous Dior style and it’d look so cute peeking out from under a workout top. And lastly, I’m borderline obsessed with this textured stripe bikini from Warehouse. The top and bottoms are available separately which is great if you’re a different size on the top and bottom like me.
Moving swiftly on to non-style items… I think this beautiful ceramic vase would be the perfect addition to living rooms, offices or hallways across the Daisybutter community! I love having fresh flowers in my bedroom and find it really brings life to the space. It’d make an ideal home for bunches of peonies, hydrangea and lilacs for summer. Alternatively, a pink piece of wall art will liven up white walls and rental homes. This feline-inspired one is oh so sweet.
