Well hello there! I’m back from our holiday and my week away, feeling somewhat refreshed and somewhat help-me-the-heatwave-is-still-here. How are we all doing?! I wish I could say that I’m currently sat at a Pinterest-perfect desk feeling all kinds of creative and ready to share our Spain photo diary, but I’m sat cross-legged on the end of my bed, post-England game and pre-Race for Life feeling hot, bothered and not all that motivated to run a 5k. I tried.
It’s been absolutely ages since I last took some time away from work, the Internet and the blog. You’ll probably recall the last week of June and how I spent the entire time fretting about having work signed off, marketing activity signed off and scheduled, etc. Spoiler: I now honestly believe you can never truly be prepared to leave your biz for a week and sometimes you just have to go where the tide takes you. And that was eating tapas on the beach while typing out an Instagram caption for my business! Well, it could be worse…!
In an odd twist of fate, I only ended up taking a handful of photos whilst we were away. The heatwave we had in England followed us to Spain and I enjoyed lazing by the pool or at the beach far more than cracking out my incredibly heavy camera or phone to get the ‘gram. I also learned a lot about social media and me while we were away. For example, I felt like a fraud spending a good twenty minutes setting up a shot of me eating breakfast on the terrace (which I did eat all of, by the way!) and I just wasn’t all that into queuing for half an hour to shoot at Instagram-popular locations. For some reason, all of this normal traveller behaviour loosely translates to ‘you don’t do Instagram properly’ in my mind. Or it did. Surprise! I’m feeling pretty positive towards that app again, and I’m hoping to spend some time this week applying my own brand of creativity to it.
To ease us all back in to a summer of fresh Daisybutter content, here’s our holiday in photos…
Breakfast on the terrace. Disclaimer: I did indeed eat all of this, including the delicious peach marmalade and fresh fruit, sweeter than any I’ve eaten before!
My breakfast date.
A little stroll down to the beachfront in Premià de Mar.
Of course, we watched Love Island religiously every evening on the beach as the sun set.
A day trip to Barcelona! We ticked off the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and a delicious lunch at Bacanal Cafe, on the recommendation of our lovely concierge.
When you hate poolside holidays but adulting, 2018 and burnout has pushed you one step too far. Pass the Lays…
Publishing this on Instagram might have been one of the scariest moments of my millennial life.
