Bonjour mes amours! Last night I returned from my long weekend in Paris and I didn’t quite realise just how much I’d miss this online space of mine. My Blackberry didn’t work when we arrived in France, so I’ll be spending this evening responding to your kind comments. While I get back in the essay-writing game, here’s a quick photo round-up of my first Paris Fashion Week experience…
Our first port of call was to visit Galleries Lafayette to peruse the stunning Alice in Wonderland themed window dressings. The live-action film is just about to premiere and the historical department store celebrated by calling upon much-loved designers to create sartorial works of art. Of course our group revelled in the opportunity to see them in person and take approximately a thousand photos.
In the evening, the girls and I went to the Eiffel Tower, which is easily at its’ most beautiful lit up against the night sky. And who would’ve thought? It’s incredibly cold in the March chill!
We visited Place Vendôme, situated in the 1st arrondissement, to gaze lovingly at CHANEL from afar. Coco Chanel’s apartment on 31 rue Cambon remains one of my I-want-to-go! destinations. And we sneaked a peek at The Ritz, where Coco lived.
Our long weekend in Paris was designed to coincide with Paris Fashion Week, where we were lucky enough to not only watch showgoers from afar, but attend the Dior and Isabel Marant shows as our lecturer had some very swish connections.
Lastly, we spent our last day visiting the Palace of Versailles, the residence of the Kings of France from Louis XIV until the French Revolution. And if you ever visit Paris, you certainly should do so too! The guided tour is incredibly detailed, the palace interiors obviously stunning, and the grounds were a dream to wander through.
