What does the word ‘resort’ evoke in you?
To me, it conjures up images of the world’s most beautiful people, exquisitely dressed to lounge about in lofty buildings situated in far-flung, sun-kissed destinations.
Thus, resort season baffles me year upon year. It isn’t stereotypical French Riviera chic, playing upon nautical looks?
Well, it certainly wasn’t for Marc Jacobs, who showed a stunning collection that befitted my idea of ‘resort’ yet went against the grain. No stripes to be seen here, sailor.
In somewhat typical Marc Jacobs style, the Resort 2011 collection is girly, whimsical yet luxurious in a subtle and simple manner.
The range focused on delectable dresses, elegant two-piece suits and an admirable selection of hats. The highlight for me was the stunning colour-blocked mac, thoughtfully composed to balance elegance and simplicity.
Oh Marc Jacobs, you’ve outdone yourself once again, if that were ever possible.
