Just realised that I’ve not managed to blog much at all this week! I’ve been fairly preoccupied with other things, like Uni deadlines, planning outfits for various birthday celebrations and heading to London Fashion Week. I know there’s nothing worse than bloggers making excuses for not posting regularly, but I have a huge workload at the moment including countless written pieces, a presentation, practical assignment and a huge styling portfolio to put together!
As you might already know if you follow me on Twitter, on Wednesday my LFW press pass was accepted! I applied on a whim a few weeks ago, thinking of taking the chance to cover a few shows for our Uni magazine and to boost my portfolio. But on account of the fact that I didn’t even think I’d be going, I didn’t apply to any shows or RSVP to any events! Out of sheer luck and completely by chance, Lily invited me to be her guest at the Look Show on Friday along with Gem and Victoria, and of course I couldn’t pass it up. I’d already met Gem at the Eyeko bloggers’ event back in October so it was lovely to catch up with her, and it was all a bit surreal to meet Lily and Victoria in ‘real life’, considering we spend so much time talking online.
Honestly? I can’t quite believe how quickly our day in London went! It felt like we’d only been there 5 minutes before we were rushing around like crazy people, toting (what felt like!) a hundred bags. We headed over to Somerset House to pick up our press passes before embarking on the walk to Victoria House Basement for the Look Show.
The Look Show was one huge blogger and celebrity lovefest. It was incredible to be able to meet and spend a little time with Georgie, Kristabel, Kavita, Katie, Laura and Sara. Gem and I spent a large proportion of our day trying to not-so-subtly pap celebrities, and we spotted SO many. Then came the runway show, each showing complete looks from high street favourites. My show highlights were definitely New Look, Mango and River Island. And I came away with SO much inspiration for my own SS11 wardrobe as well as for my styling assignment.
After the Look Show, a few (plastic) flutes of champagne and some delicious canapés, we had a quick go in the photobooth and headed back to the LFW press lounge to refresh ourselves. Gem indulged in the complimentary MAC makeovers and then afterwards, the four of us found ourselves in a little restaurant in Covent Garden to recount our entirely surreal day and talk about all things blog-related. The best!
All in all, my first LFW experience was strange yet so exciting. I feel SO inspired to up my game for next season and can’t wait to see where lil ol’ Daisybutter takes me next. A huge thank you again to Lily for inviting me along for the ride!
