Welcome back to another Style Inspiration post!
In this edition, I’m dissecting the style of Emma Watson, Harry Potter actress and recent Brown University undergraduate. Although, like I’ve previously mentioned, my style isn’t ever a direct replica of another person’s style, I am incredibly inspired by a selection of people.
One of the emerging influences on my wardrobe is certainly Emma Watson, and not just from a Harry Potter fangirl perspective either.
Since wrapping her filming commitments, moving to the States to study at Brown and becoming the face of Burberry and Lancôme, I’ve been LOVING Emma’s classic, feminine and intrinsically preppy aesthetic.
A far cry from the haphazardly self-styled red carpet looks of her 9-year-old self, Emma now proudly styles designer pieces with confidence, grace and ease. I couldn’t think of many child-actor-turned-celebrities that could wear a timeless Burberry trench SO well.
And as much as I adored the short, wavy hairstyle that Emma sported before her infamous pixie cut, it was undoubtedly her elfin crop hair transformation that catapulted her into the fashion universe and landed her firmly on the map.
Emma Watson’s style reminds me of her co-star Clemence Poesy’s, mixed with a little Alexa Chung (aren’t we all just a little influenced by Alexa?!), and underlined with the unmistakeable Hermione Granger look that Emma cleverly put her own stamp on.
I truly admire her affinity for clean, simple silhouettes as well as not being afraid to try things, and I particular love her current signature look of a masculine blazer, age-old brogues and a bowler hat.
