Afternoon readers! The clouds are back in force in my little town today so I’m currently enjoying a day indoors, catching up on blog posts and eating an extravagant quesadilla lunch before I’m at work until 11pm tonight. I’m fairly sure that my life as a waitress is ruining my body clock, but this gal needs to earn a pretty penny for Uni.
This week’s Ways to Wear focuses on shoes. In particular, white Converse as requested by Hayley last week.
Whilst these days I don’t tend to wear Converse as much, I did wear them with almost every outfit in my arsenal a year or two ago, and I thought I’d share some of them in this week’s feature. Not into Converse? Swap them out for your adidas Stan Smith’s or canvas slip-ons.
One of my favourite online shops for quirky, vintage-inspired tees is Truffle Shuffle.
I’m sure a lot of you have already heard of this store, as it has been known to be favoured by the likes of Fearne Cotton and Mischa Barton. Their designs range from cute pieces to more rock/grunge inspired tees, with tight fits, looser silhouttes, as well as a whole host of sleeve lengths, so there is something for everyone, paired with denim – jeans or shorts – with Converse makes the perfect, laidback chic outfit. My favourite tees include this Minnie Mouse vest, this Wonder Woman baseball shirt and of course the two I have featured.
I like balancing out colour in the outfit, to add depth into an otherwise light toned outfit, and have chosen tees with white colours within the motif to pull the look together.
Look Two is my favourite look this week, and one that is likely to see me whack the Converse out again for old times’ sake.
I’ve gone for a retro/hippy/devil-may-care sort of outfit here. The double-layer playsuit is so gorgeous and summery, I’m going to keep my eye out for it tomorrow and have so many ideas to style this up. I love these super-bargainous aviator sunglasses from New Look, who are truly doing me proud recently, the floral print arms are too cute, and coordinate well with both the floral elements of the playsuit, as well as the black band on the trilby hat.
I’m in absolute lust with this ring from Miss Selfridge too: I tried it on on Monday after work, and embarassingly got it stuck on my finger in-store! Don’t you just hate that momentary panic?!
My third look is a sweet take on the shorts trend which is huge at the moment.
For those a bit conscious of their legs, I think opaque black tights look fine with white Converse, and can easily be included into this outfit. I can’t quite get over how adorable this top from ASOS is, and I’d imagine it would be SO easy to ‘DIY’ if you had a spare half hour!
Had to take a leaf out of the ASOS stylist’s book and include a bow headband in the mix, which emphasises the girliness of this outfit. I’m still loving the rose, burnt orange and warm tones on the high street at the moment: this pair of looser, belted shorts is so perfect. I think Look Three is a great example of how Converse don’t always have to be worn with standard skinny jeans and a T-shirt!
Big thanks to Hayley for requesting this item, it’s made me want to dig out my Converse now! Not only does taking requests help you lovely lot out, it really does inspire me too! If any of you wear outfits inspired by these posts, let me know so I can link you in a future edition (: I hope you enjoyed this edition of Ways to Wear, how do you wear your Converse?
