Happy Wednesday girls!
Happy hour begins… right now, with another edition of Ways to Wear! I decided to use this week to bring the W2W series back to its’ roots, with pieces you’re pretty likely to have lurking in your wardrobe already, but are reluctant to rewear because it’s been overworn already.
I’ll still be taking requests, so please just drop me an email or even a simple Tweet, and I’ll add it in my new blogging schedule. (NB. Blogging schedule = Post-it note hastily stuck on my laptop!)
This week’s featured item is the staple of all staples in any wardrobe, a basic white T-shirt.
For the purposes of the Look collages below, I am using a Topshop T-shirt. Of course, you can buy these from absolutely anywhere, and I’m 99.9% sure that you already have one. I’d also like to mention quickly, that white T-shirts absolutely require a nude T-shirt bra and not white for a invisible look. Alternatively, a black lace triangle bra creates a modern look.
Look One is a laid-back chic look. It is very much inspired by the gorgeous Sarah at Burn the Blonde, who always inspires me to get back in my jeans for a girly, fresh and simple look.
I’m really into crochet at the moment, and am in love with these little fringed waistcoats. The one in this look is from H&M, and retails at £29.99, which seems a bit hefty for H&M to be honest. For the more money-conscious (ahem, me), there is a cheaper version, which is pretty much exactly the same, from New Look, for half the price!
Although many of you won’t want to wear wedges on an everyday basis, this pair is quite neutral and will go with almost any outfit. Adding some height will dress the look up a little, and will improve your posture too.
I think I styled Look Two with an idea of meadows, English summer whimsicality and a Lula-esque feel.
Guess who’s been listening far too much in editorial styling lectures again? 😉 I saw this Daisy Chain dungaree playsuit on the Yayer website yesterday and knew it was perfect. It can actually be worn without the white T-shirt, but for the purposes of this post, and to make the item a little more wearable and attainable, I’ve place the top underneath.
This look is all about the feminine flourishes and pastel colours: floral headbands are very ‘in’ again *cringe* and look so sweet with wavy, undone, tousled hair. Think bedhead hair! I like these moccassin boots, they’re something a little different and would be SO comfy! I also added a pair of adorable frill Tabio socks to tie in the colours. No jewellery with this look, it would be a bit too much!
Look Three this week is my favourite by far.
I think I might treat myself to an item or two from this look! Of course the T-shirt would be tucked into the belted high waisted shorts. I think tucking a T-shirt into a skirt or shorts really dresses a look up.
I’m absolutely in love with this kimono jacket from ASOS, the fluted sleeve detail and sheer chiffon is so gorgeous, I’d really recommend clicking the link (#1 above) and watching the video version, it sits so well and has so much movement! Like in Saturday’s look, I’ve added a simple necklace to coordinate against the lines of the jacket, this should elongate the body, and flatter your body.
Pop two simple bracelets on the same wrist (hello ASOS £6 bargains!) and you’re good to go, a perfect outfit with a little nod to the Oriental trend for day or night dependant on your choice/preference of footwear!
I hope you enjoyed this week’s installment, and that it has inspired you to wear your white T-shirts in new ways. It’s so easy to fall into a pattern and routine with basics, but it’s also so easy to wear in hundreds of ways! Also, if you liked last week’s installment and those Zara ethic sandals, I’ve found a very similar pair at New Look right here ladies, so go crazy ladies, the weekend is near and your feet deserve a pretty new home to go out in!
