Missguided is one of those smaller online shops that I endlessly hear about on the grapevine, and yet have never taken the time to peruse properly. After falling in love with their Mariette wedges a few weeks ago, I decided to indulge in a proper rummage through their pieces and I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far!
I recently received an email from the lovely Sara, their online stylist, about participating in the Missguided Social Style competition, which is currently running on their Facebook page. The idea is to create a look to showcase what you deem as the ‘perfect look’ for a summer event.
So here goes my attempts at creating two summer event looks:
I’ve already had my school prom, and two Summer Balls at college, and I’m awaiting my Graduation Ball (a year to go!), but I couldn’t resist putting together a prom look for the competition.
I really like the idea of wearing something short, sweet and not too dressy to prom. My own prom was full of girls I didn’t speak to in full-length gowns, guys in dodgy suits, and me in a ’50s-inspired, full-skirted dress and little heels.
So if I had the chance, I’d wear one of these options, with some colour, and a dress that wasn’t too casual or too dressy. I adore both of these dresses, I’m so tempted to order the Sidney dress, it’d look lovely in the day or evening! I’d also wear a hair garland with Blair Waldorf-esque ‘proper’ waves to bring the second look together.
One of the things I love doing in summer is just having a sweet little garden party.
A barbeque, some sunloungers, a pitcher of something sweet, a pitcher of something to get your guests tipsy and some music is so perfect for those late summer evenings.
This outfit is something I’ve wanted from Topshop forever, so how handy is it that Missguided have one for a fraction of the price? I adore the Margaret lace trim shorts, I think I’ll be DIY-ing a pair if not buying these on payday. Added another floral hair garland for extra whimsicality with loose, undone, bedhead waves.. Is that even a word?!
I suppose this is a little twist on my typical Ways to Wear posts.
If you have a prom or garden party coming up, I’d really recommend having a look on Missguided, they have a lovely range of dresses and other pieces at incredibly affordable prices. Don’t forget to ‘like’ the Missguided Facebook page, voting begins on Thursday 16th June 2011 and I’d love for you to vote for me, if you liked my looks of course.
