Good afternoon ladies! I hope you’re all keeping well and enjoying the wonderful June sun that England has graced us with today. And if you’re elsewhere in the world, I hope you’re also basking in some lovely weather!
I’ve spent most of my day cosied up in bed after dropping Dad off at the airport in the early hours of this morning. Oh, and I also prepared a post that will hopefully be published tomorrow.
This week’s featured piece is a black playsuit. The H&M one has been trending this week, and it was highly requested after my last outfit post. Plus, it’s currently on sale and is a super versatile piece. It can be worn for everyday summer looks, dressed up in the evening, and is certainly a suitcase mainstay.
I’d like to look at Look One as something a little more sophisticated and chic.
It is simple, elegant and streamlined, and if you’re not a fan of the daytime moccasins I’ve paired with the Look, it is so easy to pop on a pair of basic flats, sandals or heels to change up the look!
I’ve been looking at this Topshop kimono for as long as I can remember, the brick colour is gorgeous and super flattering on any skin tone for the summer, and the draped fit will streamline your body. Pick a size to cover your bum though!
I also decided to accessorise quite simply on this outfit, with two statement House of Harlow by Nicole Richie pieces. The necklace is an elegant, gold vintage key, which will look amazing against black, as well as subtly coordinate with the gold detail on the playsuit tassles. I’ve adored the starburst ring since Nicole Richie launched her collection.
The best way to describe Look Two is ‘ballerina chic’. Undeniably, the fashion world has been heavily influenced by ‘Black Swan’, and this Look alludes to that trend.
I included two variations of tops to layer over the playsuit. I know a lot of people are self-conscious of getting their arms out, I can be a lot of the time too! Both of these tops feature different sleeve lengths, and beautiful crochet or lace detailing. The nude/pastel colour palette is so lovely against black too.
I haven’t tried the sheer nude jewel tights from Topshop, but I’m assuming they are a true nude, not that white tone. A nude pair of tights is great for added warmth, and the jewel detail is super elegant. Finished off with a long, sunburst disc necklace from Forever 21, which comes in rust orange or turquoise.
Look Three is a sweet, laidback British summer look. Pop a band tee over the playsuit, preferably a size or two larger, or better yet, wear your boyfriend’s, for an I-just-threw-this-on-don’t-I-look-good look.
I am a huge backer of ethnic, tribal colours and moccasins this season, if you hadn’t noticed! This H&M pair tick all the boxes for my perfect summer shoe.
I really like the idea of a cute little backpack, slung slouchily over one shoulder, and of course, a boater hat will complete this look.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s instalment of Ways to Wear! Let me know if you’ve worn or featured an outfit from any of my Ways to Wear series, I’d love to have a look at your outfits! I’m thinking of changing up my blog layout either this week or the next, so hold tight if things get a little messy around here soon 😉
