Thought I’d go back to basics with this week’s Ways to Wear, with something casual, very wearable and flattering on pretty much anyone.
I read Rose’s blog last night about her latest purchases in London, and this piece in particular stood out to me as something that would be perfectly at home in any wardrobe. H&M are really good for these affordable, fit-and-flare dresses, and this one was of no exception.
I’m still in my jumper and collar phase, as demonstrated in Look One. I honestly think there’s nothing cuter than this polar bear jumper from Topshop, and it’d look even sweeter with the striped skirt flaring out underneath.
Tie a little crystal- or pearl-embellished collar around the neck for a little girl look, or make your own, as demonstrated here by Katie. There’s currently a huge range on ASOS with leather, crystal and pointed tip collars on offer if you’re interested.
Wanted to include something a little more corporate in this week’s edition: I think a little striped skater dress would work so well for job interviews or interning duties!
Paired with a chunky belt (men’s ones work really well!) and a cropped sleeved boyfriend blazer, and then I added heeled brogues which seem to be one of the biggest emerging trends for the coming season.
The beauty in such a monochrome outfit is that you can always add a pop of colour with a simple string bracelet and a bag of choice.
My final Look this week is casual, chic and very girly. It’d be perfect for those days where you just have to pop out and run errands, or are popping out for a quiet coffee date.
I’m so excited that Monki is finally coming to London! Monki is tipped for a 1st September launch at Selfridges, definitely going to check that out before going to the GlossyBox event next week! Added all the burnt rusty orange, peachy pink make-up to compliment the knitted headband, and these gorgeous snakeskin trim loafers that I’m going to persuade the mother to buy for me, to replace my battered moccasins. I’d probably wear this outfit with a chain strap bag and a leather jacket.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Ways to Wear. I’ve pretty much stopped styling for the summer now, I’m sure most of you are now prepping for autumn/winter, and the inevitable cold that’ll be winding its’ way over to us soon.
I’m really inspired by everything on the High Street at the moment for once, I’m definitely going to be selling on/donating my old pieces in return for some shiny new clothes! Just going to pop back to work now, I’ll be stalking comments from my bar position tonight though. I’m also going to Southampton for the day tomorrow, which I’m excited for, feels about right to spend some time away from my hometown.
