This cleansing oil was one of the products that genuinely ‘excited’ me when I opened my March ’12 Glossybox, dubbed the Harrods Edition. As a brief overview, Glossybox are a monthly beauty subscription service, where you pay a monthly fee and receive five luxury product samples in the post. The products you receive are handpicked by Glossybox and may vary from customer to customer.
I know a lot of people across the blogosphere were disappointed by the box that I also got, although I had nothing to complain about. In a box that typically brings five samples, the Harrods Edition provided six samples, although in my variation, three were in cardboard form, which seemed to put a lot of people off. Personally, I was happy with the sizes and felt they were pretty accurate for a £10+£2.95 box, although mine was provided to me for press consideration.
Onto the product then! (I seem to have already gone off on a tangent!) The Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil claims to be a three in one cleanser that leaves skin soft, balanced and non-oily. The cleansing oil itself is a medium-weight product, although I felt it was perfectly light enough while still doing its’ job. My skin is normal to dry so I’d been after something like this for a while, and I’m so pleased I discovered it.
The application of this can be quite messy, but I’m assuming that the full-size bottle with a pump makes it easier than trying to tip the ‘right amount’ out of a sachet! You simply work the oil into your skin, let the product sink in and soak away your makeup and impurities, emulsify with a little water, and rinse off. I follow up with my Kiehl’s Cleansing Milk (review here) and a toner, then moisturiser as normal, and my new routine has left my skin feeling more hydrated and soft than ever before.
The sachet contains 4ml of product, while the full bottle retails at £28.00 for 150ml. I would personally highly recommend the Shu Uemura cleansing oil, if you’re in the market for something a little more high end to treat your skin to. The one I tried was the Classic High Performance, but there are six formulas, so be sure to do your research beforehand! I think I’m going to treat myself to the Brightening formula once my website/portfolio/dissertation/exam/magazine is all finished and handed in – good justification? ♥
If you received this sample in your March Glossybox, what did you think? I’d love to hear some more opinions!
