Firstly, a big thank you for the comments and thoughts on yesterday’s blog post. I talked a little about the topic on everyone’s lips – the saturation of blogs and continual inspiration. If you’re interested on having a read, make a cuppa and head on over – I’d love to hear from you too! I actually wrote my undergraduate dissertation on the changing landscape of fashion media, so it’s a tiny speck of something I hold quite close to my heart.
This outfit is something I actually wore last weekend, although I can see myself wearing it again perhaps tomorrow at work. I’ve completely darkened up my wardrobe again – perfect for those awkward ‘dressing in the dark’ mornings, because turning on your bedroom light in the morning just seems so… wrong. I picked up these (p)leather shorts in our staff sample sale at work last Friday and needed to wear them immediately. The non-waistband design is perfectly clean cut and unassuming: so good for a hint of edginess without veering too far off-course from my typical style. I can’t get enough of my Topshop camis again (good thing really, at £18 a pop!) so I slipped one on with the shorts, rounding the look off with my Chloé inspired boots and River Island jacket that sneaks its’ way into all of my outfits as of late.
Matalan have really come up trumps with a surprisingly trend led selection in their AW13 range. I hardly ever shop in Matalan, but there’s a huge store in my hometown and I remember when lots of my friends got their first jobs in there, and finding many a gem on my old 16-year-old wage. Their new mantra is a ‘wear it your way’ mantra, which of course I’m a huge advocate of – I absolutely adore that monochrome tweed inspired coat and the tartan skirts – all of which have promptly made it to my wishlist! Onto the actual event – I seriously need to give props to the Matalan team for putting on an amazing afternoon, ‘Midnight in Paris’ was a perfect Saturday choice of viewing, full of romance and nostalgia, and the Bulgari Hotel was on a whole other level! x
