The Bayswater Shoulder stood out to me with its’ perfect satchel inspired proportions. To me, it feels like a bolder and more contemporary version of the little shoulder bags that my Granny wears. Hey hey, I’m a-okay with that. Hailing from the Mulberry AW13 drop (Emma Hill’s penultimate collection!!), I really love the crisp lines, buttery soft leather and shoulder strap on this bag. It’s a pretty practical size, but you’re likely to face a book or Nintendo 3DS XL dilemma most mornings. I can typically fit my coin purse, card holder, three lipsticks, compact mirror, iPod, keys and phone in there and everything else is a bonus. Perfect for daywear or evening wear!
Onto the specifics: my Mulberry Bayswater Shoulder is the Midnight Blue Shiny Goat version. The leather is oh so soft with a glossy finish, and has a wonderful cross grained texture and borrows elements from the classic Bayswater. It has an amazing double tab Postman’s Lock closure that brings Proenza Schouler PS11 notes (win!) and all the hardware is silver nickel. I’m constantly in awe of the many many compartments – a zipped one, two internal slips and an external slip, as well as an inner zipped pocket and card holder. It’s a hoarder’s dream!
I bought mine at the Mulberry concession on the Ground Floor at Selfridges London. The sales advisors were more than helpful, as well the devils on my shoulder – Sarah, Aisling and Elodie! – and I haven’t had any issues with my purchase.
Overall, I’m over the moon with my newest Mulberry jewel. I wear it at least three times a week and it is wearing really nicely (read: not at all in 2 months of ownership). If you’ve been saving and eyeing this up, I’d definitely recommend taking the plunge! x
Disclaimer: I bought my Mulberry Bayswater Shoulder with all my own pennies, all 110000 of them. I have not been paid to write or publish this post, I just thought it could be useful for people looking to buy!
