What do you buy the girl that has everything? We all know one. The incessant shopper who buys every gift idea that you had earmarked for her, the one with more trinkets and treasures than you can shake a tail feather at. And for those friends and family members who are sneakily peeking here in the run-up to my favourite holiday? I know, I know – I’m guilty as charged. So sue me. Here are my top picks to add a little luxury to Christmas for the girl who has everything.
YSL Gris Montaigne Deco Nail Vernis: Luxury in the form of a bottle. YSL nail colours are the shining beacon in my own varnish collection. Whilst they’re a little pricey (£18, they’re lovely to add to a mini hamper of goodies alongside a hand cream and pair of gloves for an all rounder. The grey hue is my current favourite, as well as the Burt’s Bees Almond Beeswax Hand Creme (£8.95) and Muji’s touch screen gloves (£12.95). Add cellophane and a teeny tiny woven basket (TK Maxx are good for these!) and you have a customised gift for beauty centric pals.
Crown & Glory Gift Card: Sophie is the oh so whimsically talented creator of Crown & Glory, one of my favourite hair accessory brands. For the holiday season, C&G have created an amazing gift card idea (seriously – I wish I’d come up with this!) where you can introduce friends to the Crown & Glory aesthetic. Simply load a card with the desired amount (£10, £15 or £20), and the included packaging features a selection of hair pins so they can try and test, there and then.
Origins Ornament Christmas Baubles: Somewhat of a novelty Christmas tradition with my Mum, the Origins baubles crop up in our household every year. These Selfridges exclusive baubles (£12) are festive little treats for either yourself or a loved one. With two in the package, the idea is you can share the fun (but Mum always manages to wangle two in her bathroom stocks…!). They feature five skincare samples, ideal for weaning a friend into one of the best-loved skincare brands around. Additionally, this year, Origins are giving back with every purchase: Origins will plant a tree with Global Releaf for every set sold. Your tree will help reduce air pollution, clean our water, and lower energy costs.
Kate Spade (£35), Alexander McQueen (£175) and Marc by Marc Jacobs (£35) Phone Shells: I’m the biggest advocate of patterned phone cases, to the point where my friends ask to see what my phone is wearing every time I see them! It’s no secret that we’re all completely attached to our techy devices nowadays, so whilst a tiny bit pricey, they’re practical for helping to defend against drops, and make a style statement for your partner-in-crime. I find they make a lovely ‘stocking filler’ style present, bumped up with pink champagne truffles and a nail varnish!
Bombus Bespoke Wooden Map Letters: At £14.50, these are one of the most affordable picks of this guide and they’re the only customisable choice too. I’ve already invested in a set of these for friends of mine who’ve recently moved in together. You can select the letters of their names (or even just one person’s!) and map a particular place of note, whether their favourite city, a place that your friends met, etc. The perfect, caring way to wish others well in a new abode.
