self-portrait is the London-based contemporary label by Malaysian-born designer Han Chong. That alone piqued my curiosity of the brand. Two out of three of my heritage roots! His designs are denoted by peek-a-boo allure; that daring glimpse of skin beneath fabric by way of burnout fabrics and deft cut-outs. He plays with androgyny against modern femininity and I can’t get over all of the perfectly placed details. So en pointe.
I’m particularly enamoured by this gingham number. I’ve been oh so tempted to pick it up to satiate my continued post-summer adoration of white and then dye it to a sugarplum pink or lilac hue for my best friend’s wedding next year. And just look at the see-through plaid check piece with its sweet collar! Hawt dayum, gimme that dress.
