This year was the year that saw me fall in love with fitness. My Barre instructor is on my gifting list this year as I absolutely LOVE hanging out with her at the studio and really must credit her for the change in my fitness attitude this year. I’ve been looking at all sorts of gift ideas for her from studio decor (a little too intrusive) to bits of gear that she’d enjoy and then thought, ‘why not create a gift guide too?’ I have mates that love fitness, I’m personally trying to nail the gym kit rotation and it’s that time of year where everyone is about to hop on the gym bandwagon. To support their goals, here are a few ideas:
Fitbit Blaze (£159.99) – Fitbit
The Fitbit Blaze is one of Fitbit’s smartwatch offerings, bested by the incredibly expensive Ionic (available here). For the gym-goer who also lives an active, connected lifestyle, I think the Blaze is an awesome all-rounder. Not only does it track activity, boast GPS connectivity and offer reminders to move (the main Fitbit features), it also intuitively measures your heart rate, provides guided breathing sessions and on-screen workouts and connects to your smartphone to receive notifications when your phone is out of reach.
If you gifted somebody a Fitbit last year or you know they’re an avid Fitbit user, how about gifting them a strap? Several of their devices can be customised and I didn’t even realise the selection was quite so stylish!
Andrea Grip Socks ($14) – Pointe Studio
Socks for Christmas is an age-old joke but these grip socks are an absolute essential for a range of classes these days. I couldn’t be without mine for Barre or Pilates! I recently discovered Pointe Studio via Instagram and am absolutely besotted. These Andrea ones are perfect.
Lift and Lengthen Yoga Block (£15) – Lululemon
Nothing has been more frustrating for me than having to rush to the cupboard every yoga class to make I get my pick of yoga blocks for practice. A set of beautifully crafted blocks would make a lovely addition to a gym kit, even if they are a little extra!
Priming Moisturiser (£18) – Glossier
Is it any surprise that I’m including another Glossier item in a gift guide?! That brand has well and truly captured my heart in 2017. My Priming Moisturiser is a gym bag essential. It provides just enough hydration and easily rebalances the moisture levels of my skin after a gym session, ideal for keeping breakouts at bay. Plus, the pink bubble wrap-esque pouch makes for the perfect cosmetics slip in a gym kit. That’s what I use!
Yogini Cropped Hooded Top (£34.99) – Puma
When I spotted this Puma hoodie on Chorong’s (from Apink!) Instagram, I instantly scoured the Internet for it because it is the dream fit. Slouchy yet fitted with a sweet lace-up front, this would make a dreamy addition to the gym kit or weekend wardrobe.
I Did My Best Gym Bag (£31.95) – ban.do
As a complete ban.do aficionado, it probably comes as no surprise that a gym bag from their collection would make an appearance on the blog! I’ve been alternating between a tote bag and a backpack as my ‘gym bag’ and so if you have a friend that’s looking to start a gym membership, this’ll prove a dream gift that they didn’t even know they needed! I love their bright and colourful designs, such a far cry from the black and grey styles you’ll find, well, pretty much everywhere else!
Unicorn Magic 25oz Canteen Drinks Flask ($37.95) – Corkicle
When Harvey and I joined the gym a few months ago, I bought him a Swell bottle to complement his workouts. But when I was looking for the perfect gym bottle, these Corkicle ones really stood out to me as well. Crafted from stainless steel with triple insulation, they cleverly keep cold drinks cool and hot drinks hot and look so damn nice. Ideal for the gym, on the go or even just for their desk.
