It’s the month of love and don’t we all know it?! The shops are lined with goods in hues of pink and red, there are four thousand and twenty Valentine’s-inspired newsletters and other such fancies in our email inboxes and, all-round, I’m feeling the love.
I feel very lucky and content these days, an overarching sort of feeling that hasn’t quite left me in months and months. Sprinkle good thoughts and love notes like confetti, to your other half, your family, your friends… Heck, to your postman if he brings you a fresh ASOS order week in, week out with no complaints! (Let’s ignore the fact that he’s paid to!)
This month I plan to squish the heck out of my best friends and celebrate Galentine’s, that new horse. Harvey and I are having a quiet one this year, no phones, just homemade sourdough pizza and our other favourite foodie treats. Friends-wise, it’s two of my best friends’ birthdays, another has just gotten engaged(!!), and it’s nice to be nice. So, my makeup is going to be pink, love-worn and a little bit rough around the edges.
Meet my February makeup medley.
Glossier Cloud Pant in Haze
I don’t know if it’s just my boyfriend, but every time I take time to apply my makeup, I’m reprimanded with ‘oh you look fine without makeup’, and yet whenever I use my Cloud Paint in Haze, he tells me that my cheeks look ‘SO nice today babe’.
Boyfriend approval or not aside, I am absolutely smitten with Haze at the moment. A dusky raspberry shade that lets natural elegance prevail, I already wrote an entire post about how much I love this. A beautiful raspberry pink shade that gives a romantic flush to the cheeks, I wear it on lazy girl days with filled-in brows, a few coats of mascara and a touch of lip balm. Easy to apply with your fingers or a brush, although the dispensing of this continues to evade me dammit.
Oh, and it’s cruelty-free, too.
Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette
After winning this in Lily’s giveaway a few months ago, I’ve been reaching for this all the time. Last month I was totally into my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, but I’m enjoying the natural tones of the Naked2 right now. Perfect to pair with red lips or a my-lips-but-better. I apply them in one swipe with my finger for a messy, sultry smudge.
Barry M Nail Paint in Bespoke
This nail varnish has barely left my nails in a week! I had no idea that Barry M were cruelty-free until I did a quick research of CF high street brands, and now I’m fully back in love with the brand. Bespoke applies like a dream, requiring just one or two coats for full opacity, and the beautiful warm rose pink adds a dose of femininity to any outfit.
Eyeko Bespoke Mascara
Long-term readers of this blog will remember that one of my very first internships was at Eyeko. In fact, I organised a blog event and invited all of my favourite bloggers so that I could sneakily meet them all! Fast forward a few years though and they now focus primarily on eye products. Again cruelty-free, I opted for a tube of their Bespoke Mascara which you can fully customise! I swore by their mascara in my late teens and early twenties, and the same can absolutely be said now.
