With days lasting just a touch longer and evenings a fingertips’ stretch away, it’s certain that spring is right here, hiding behind clouds for the meanwhile, but it’s here. I’ve begun to shelve my thicker knits and darker wash denims in favour of lightweight knits (our Honey + Chai Amie jumper is my favourite, and it’s currently just £5!) and I’ve got plenty of empty hangers ready to display dresses on.
A few weeks ago, I was beginning to feel the burnout. Burnout is typified by feeling completely unlike yourself, drained because of things that feel out of your control. A mix-up in my business meant that I was working three 18-hour days a week alongside my usual business hours, trying to be a good girlfriend, sister, daughter and friend, fit in my gym routine and find time to read and Netflix, not to mention pour attention into my blog. It was a bit crazy (it sounds even crazier written down!), but you can’t pour from an empty jug. So, I made the decision to cut back with a client, rescheduled a few mate dates, swapped out one gym day for an at-home workout day, and booked myself in for a Swedish massage and a set of eyelash extensions.
Bloody HELL, I am so excited for my annual spring/summer lash extension appointment.
Today though, let’s turn our attention to makeup and everything I’m planning to pop on my face this month.
Glossier Lidstar in Moon and Cub (CF)
Like the rest of the Glossier fanclub, I was ridiculously excited for the label’s latest launch: Lidstar. Hey, if it’s good enough for Beyonce…! I picked up a duo, which is one of their product offerings and a great way to sample a few shades.
Lidstar is touted a glistening eye glow and I personally love something sparkly on my eyes. I wear glasses full-time and find that it’s important to keep things fresh on my eyes as they get lost behind my frames. If you’re not a fan of shimmer, you probably won’t be a fan of this.
I LOVE my Lidstar in Cub. Cub is a smokey violet-taupe shade that can be blended into a sheerer look: I swipe it directly onto my lids and smoke it out with my ring finger so it has about 45% opacity. Moon is a little less wearable for me, giving creamy pearlescent vibes that don’t sit well solo on my olive skintone. I do, however, pop it on the inner corners of my eyes and use it as a highlight when I’m in a rush.

Etude House Face Blur
As the days get lighter, I’m really enjoying adding Etude House’s Face Blur underneath my BB cream or in place of a face base. It contains SPF so is great for everyday wear, and it provides pore blurring and a lit-from-within glow effect. Need I say more? Right now I wear it solo after moisturiser, because I’ve found myself in a great rhythm with my skincare and water intake. Lucky lucky me.
Barry M Nail Paint in Lemonade (CF)
I always forget how much I adore Barry M’s nail paints until it comes to my Sunday routine of painting my nails while catching up on YouTube videos. I reached for Lemonade this past weekend and the muted, creamy lilac pink hue just screams April to me. It’s a continuation of the Easter palettes we all had thrown in our faces, but is subtle enough to feel like you’re not even wearing a colour. I just love it. Oh, and it’s from their Gel collection which always lasts forever.
Glossier Haloscope in Quartz (CF)
HOW does this feature in all of my makeup medley instalments?!
I think that alone is testament to just how much I love Haloscope. In fact, I’m almost completely out of this tube of sun-kissed goodness! Quartz offers the loveliest, dewy glow and I use it daily on my cheekbones. Of course it’ll feature heavily in this month’s looks!
