It’s been really nice as of late to indulge in staying at a hotel instead of take the millennial’s route of booking an Airbnb when travelling. Although I love the way Airbnb’s offer you the opportunity to get to know new people (i.e. the host, their roommates, etc.) and gain a real local’s insight into the place you’re visiting, we knew we wanted to book a hotel or resort for our summer holiday so we could fully relax and enjoy little luxuries like breakfast in bed, room service and an infinity pool.
I have to admit, I never take beach holidays and much prefer exploring a city and knowing there will be several opportunities to discover an adorable coffee shop, concept store and visit a stunning castle or two. I’m certainly a ‘planner’ when it comes to holidays and so it felt really odd to just be hunting for a great hotel that ticked all of our boxes for a quiet, relaxing, non-tacky break.
Enter Secret Escapes.
We discovered Hotel Sorli Emocions through Secret Escapes, which is a private members only website through which you can nab deals on luxury holidays. I’m constantly having a little browse at the stunning villas and 5* resorts on there, despite knowing I’d never be able to justify splashing out on one! But then I came across an amazing deal on a trip to Vilassar de Dalt, a historic village just 30 minutes outside of Barcelona, at 66% off. With flights included and two very burned-out individuals desperate to seek some sun, we wasted no time and booked five days in a room with a private terrace.
Sorli Emocions is a beautiful, 4* hotel that’s situated a little way away from the equally beautiful Premià de Mar seafront. Modern, quiet and with an air of exclusivity (there are less than 30 rooms in the hotel), it made for a dream escape from our busy lives. Booked through Secret Escapes, we also had complimentary welcome drinks, spa access and breakfast included.
Our room had the most wonderful queen-sized bed with an ultra comfortable mattress and Egyptian cotton bed linen, with a double bathroom and little dressing room. And of course a secluded private terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings!
Additionally we had access to our own coffee machine, a stunning rainfall shower, complimentary mini bar, and the pool was only a few steps away for us to dip into for some relief from the Spanish heatwave.
Oh, and did I mention the dreamy spa and gym that’s just next doors? Guests can pay €5 for access to the full gym, which is ideal if you’re looking a full-on wellness week. Me? I just lazed by the pool with several gins, Aperol Spritz’ and a book. Bar service by the pool is a total game-changer.
