As I write this post, I’m partly submerged in my Saturday night alchemy bath made up of all sorts of my favourite lotions and potions. I mean, Carrie Bradshaw in a Manhattan apartment I am not… I find that shower time and bath time are my most pensive moments though and as such, deemed it necessary to attempt a bath time writing session.
Gosh it’s been a hot minute since my last Sundaze post…! I completely failed to write one last weekend as my boyfriend only had one day off work and we decided to spend the day together instead of holed up indoors. I often worry about these posts and the ‘relevance’ of them in today’s highly powered blogosphere, but they seem to be amongst my most popular, and why fix something that ain’t broke?! I’ve been considering switching this weekend post over to my email newsletters, so let me know whether you’d prefer it in an email format or for me to keep it here.
The Day From Hell
Mercury is in retrograde and don’t I bloody know it! I’ve had the worst week and I’m not even fighting the randomly terrible things that come my way. For example, on Wednesday I had three wonderful clients booked in — great! But, then I was informed I had to take my Dad’s car in for a service whilst he was at work. Which ended up taking SIX HOURS. And so I waited in 30° heat at a Starbucks about 15 minutes’ away with no air-conditioning, playing the seat roulette game and praying for a) plugs, and b) nobody looking over my shoulder at semi-confidential work.
And then the moment I got to the cinema entrance, I realised I hadn’t paid for a pay-and-display. Off I trotted straight back to where I was and the machine proudly said, ‘no need to pay tonight’. GREAT. To top it all off, I’d taken the case off my phone as it was overheating in the sun… and I then promptly dropped it, case-less, on the tarmac.
Thankfully, that entire process lead to a pretty great evening watching ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again’. My sister and I are HUGE fans of Mamma Mia and couldn’t wait to see the sequel. As I’m sure you’ve heard, it’s one of those films where the entire audience sings, laughs and applauds along with the plot. I was worried whether or not it’d live up to the first, especially as I wasn’t a huge fan of Lily James in Cinderella, and NO MERYL STREEP WHAT. But it was truly incredible and we’ve had the soundtrack on repeat in the house ever since. So. Good.
A Dream Team reunion!
Elodie’s back in town, so of course our girl gang met up for a day of girly gossip and eating. First, we had a lunchtime picnic in Holborn, then a little shopping session. I went for a manicure at Cheeky (always recommended!) and then we went to BAO in Fitzrovia for a feast of the gods. The girls shared plenty of food, and I opted for the Daikon bao, Black Cod bao and aubergine. Absolutely delicious. I’ll have a full restaurant review going up in a few days!
Like I mentioned in my Six-Month Review, I’ve been working with a business coach to try and further both my copywriting biz and blog. Jasmin has been a delight to work with and I’ve found her coaching package really insightful thus far. We had our call earlier this week and I’ve got a pretty great list full of practical things to work through and hopefully improve this online space of mine. You can discover more about Jasmin’s work on her blog — I selected her ‘The Growth Pathway’ package.
Yesterday I popped down to Ashtead, an adorable village in Surrey, to fulfil some more bridemaids’ duties. And my best friend took home her wedding dress! One more thing ticked off the wed-min list. It was so good to see her after a tricky few weeks, and we spent the rest of the day catching up and chatting about her swish new pad.
