My Malaysia Photo Diary

January 16, 2019Travel Photo Diaries

In the spirit of stripping back blog content to be a little less polished, I thought I’d share my Malaysia photo diary today. Unfiltered snaps straight from my camera and phone.

We were away for three weeks in total, not only exploring and going on a trip within a trip, but to celebrate my cousin’s wedding, so I have hundreds of photos on my memory card! I find that Ipoh changes just a little bit more each time I visit, so it’s nice to document things. And it’s the first ever time we headed back without a house to stay in! Our house was sold last year and our new place doesn’t complete until this summer, so we stayed in my Uncle’s homestay/Airbnb.

Plus, I’m hoping to make a printed photo book of these snaps and it made sense to write a blog post while I’m uploading the photos.

Sunday 18th November 2018:
It wouldn’t be a triumphant return to Ipoh without landing, arriving home and immediately heading out to eat street food in the dead of night!

Monday 19th November 2018: Pre-wedding antics. Our family headed over to my cousin’s fiancée’s house to deliver gifts to her parents and we all had to help out! Also snapped this frame of the towering limestone cliffs that you can see from almost anywhere in Ipoh.

Monday 19th November 2018: At my Uncle’s house. Harvey is always a hit with my baby nieces and nephews! Also, the shoes at the front door = how you know a family is home!

Tuesday 20th November 2018: When your Auntie shows up with fresh Roti Canai from the local mamak for breakfast. Yassss.

… followed by an afternoon wander around the Old Town. We grabbed lunch here too, but I vividly remember not taking a photo because our family took up 4 tables!

Celebrating Granny’s 83rd birthday!!

Wednesday 21st November 2018: The first of many cave temple visits. I absolutely LOVE coming back here and I even got to show Harvey around! Grandad used to take his morning strolls here.

Thursday 22nd November 2018: Just in case you were wondering, we do gather as a family to wrap dumplings, Crazy Rich Asians style 😉

The answer is: no, we do not ever stop eating.

Monday 26th November 2018: Qing Xin Ling Cultural Village. How cute is my Papa Daisy?!

Wednesday 28th November 2018: We went to the Genting Highlands! And spent a long weekend amongst the clouds. It was absolutely magical and so surreal.

Thursday 29th November 2018: Over to KL! Where we had to get our usual selca at the Pavilions.

Friday 30th November 2018: I call this set: ‘wandering aimlessly around Kuala Lumpur’.

Saturday 1st December 2018: Then, when everybody and their reindeer got ready for festive photos aplenty, my brother and I went on a treetop rainforest wander in search of the elusive perfect Instagram.

Sunday 2nd December 2018: Afternoon tea at the Majestic Hotel with my love.

We arrived in Langkawi later that day. And headed out to get falafel wraps! (So delicious that Harvey and I went back every single night.)

Monday 3rd December 2018: Absolute paradise.

Tuesday 4th December 2018: Our island hopping tour.

Tuesday 4th December 2018: Hiked up to a waterfall, then all the way up to the Sky Bridge, the highest one in the world. Then, we went to get pasta. And sat on the beach until the sun went down.

Saturday 8th December 2018: WEDDING DAY! As our family is absolutely huge, my cousin chose to host the wedding reception at his home, shutting down the entire road and catering for almost 200 people with a roadside buffet. Party like the Chai’s!

Sunday 9th December 2018: Home time! But not before, you guessed it, more food. We had a little vegan hot pot, and Harvey had an obligatory final Roti Canai at the airport.

Instagram post 2193805226526666424_30616375 Name a dog more festive (and cute) than @milo.chai. ... I'll wait 😏🎄✨ #dogsofinstagram
Instagram post 2193084553068073079_30616375 Central Perk vibes 😏✨ Had the best time with my brother and sister at FriendsFest yesterday! We spend all of our time watching the episodes on repeat (like any self-respecting millennial) and it was incredible to see the sets and goof around together for a few hours, dressed like Rachel Green with my Gucci bag (“it's spelled like Gucky, which can be confusing”). Except from when a seven-year-old PUSHED ME OVER by Joey's Barcalounger. Fun fact: I used that copy of Vogue in my dissertation! #FriendsFestive
Instagram post 2192254609316598078_30616375 I finished reading this over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The Flat Share is a chick lit with a twist; I really enjoyed the sub-plots and clever character building throughout, but for some reason didn't adore the book. Beady-eyed readers who also follow me on Goodreads will know I rated it three stars which seems harsh, but simply means I enjoyed the book but wouldn't recommend it to a general audience and I wouldn't reread it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have you read this book yet? #DaisybutterReads
Instagram post 2191316238771439516_30616375 “We can go drivin' in, on my scooter... Uh, you know, just riding in London...” 🎶. L O N D O N · G I R L :: Absolutely thrilled to share this masterpiece shot by @sianshoots. The moment I heard @taylorswift 'London Boy', I knew I wanted to capture it all, dressed in my @stellamccartney × Taylor look. I'm not from London and nor do I live there; but some of the best chapters of my life began here. My first writing job, falling in love, spontaneously buying designer bags on Bond Street, cab rides with friends in a drunken mess, food tours with my girls, hours-long walks, all amidst a grey drizzly haze. It all happened, and happens, here. London, you're so special. P.S. I have categorically never watched rugby in a pub with his mates 😂 ph. @sianshoots

This month, Petplan have 24 treats to win every day this month, including fun toys and treats, and even a dog-friendly cottage getaway!! #PetplanAdvent
Instagram post 2189524076451057863_30616375 Hello December 🎄😍 I'm ready for you and all of the last-minute packing, house moving (with my parents, not our own!), present-choosing, election voting and wrapping fun you can throw at me ✨ #DaisybutterBujo
