My New-Season Wardrobe Toolkit

September 25, 2019The Shopping Edit
0

Now that summer is firmly over and we’ve enjoyed the last of our Indian summer (or as I like to call it, climate change-induced heat), it’s time to turn my attention to getting dressed in an appropriate fashion for autumn. Although we all like to proclaim that it’s jumper season or sweater weather, often it isn’t. More likely it’s ‘wear a jumper until 11am and then slowly sweat until you can’t anymore’ weather. To me, it’s definitely layer lightly, lightly still weather.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I did a proper seasonal haul. It’s felt incredibly wasteful to me pretty much since I decided to move Daisybutter from a fashion blog to more of a lifestyle one back in 2011. Plus with the current noise about sustainable living, second-hand September and all things a little more earth-friendly, there’s never been an easier time to shop your stash or make great use of what we all already have. I’m here for it.

As such, this new-season style toolkit is designed more to provide inspiration for your seasonal clothing capsule. I can’t wait to pull out my favourite Sezané and Eudon Choi knits, shelve some camis and dig out *those* corduroy trousers I wore somewhat obsessively in 2012. Eight pieces, ready to be paired however you wish. Let’s go…

Dinosaur Button Knit Cardigan ∙ Kick Flare Stretch Ecru Jeans ∙ Floral Shirred High Neck Mini Dress ∙ Monogram Slides by Stella McCartney ∙ Double Breasted Blazer ∙ Floral Print Double Split Midi Skirt ∙ The Cheeky Straight Jean ∙ Embossed Logo Camera Bag

For some reason, I cannot get my mind off a cosy chunky cardigan this autumn. Whilst they’re not particularly groundbreaking, I’m definitely ready to embrace a big ol’ cardigan again. And how cute is this Dinosaur Button Knit Cardigan from And Other Stories?! I’m imagining it worn with a bralette and a pair of faux leather trousers, a.k.a. the trouser of the moment. Aside from black faux leather trousers, I’m obsessed with these Kick Flare Stretch Ecru Jeans and can imagine them being perfect when tailored slightly cropped and with a heeled boot underneath.

I’ve already brought back my Floral Print Long-Sleeved Dress from the archives (I’ve had it three autumns now and I think I might be able to get a few more wears and washes out of it!). But I’m considering investing in a replacement as I’m a huge fan of little dresses teamed with rolled down socks and boots. This Floral Shirred High Neck Mini Dress is ticking all of the boxes for me right now!

For moments when a mini won’t do, midi skirts are still reigning. The Floral Print Double Split Midi Skirt would be perfect worn with my Sezané knit or with a chunky black jumper! I’m also super curious to try Everlane. This sustainable brand have been on my radar for ages, and with free shipping on your first order, who could say no?! The Cheeky Straight Jean will be dreamy worn with a simple T-shirt, blazer and heeled boots.

What’s on your autumn/winter style list?

Instagram post 2193805226526666424_30616375 Name a dog more festive (and cute) than @milo.chai. ... I'll wait 😏🎄✨ #dogsofinstagram
Instagram post 2193084553068073079_30616375 Central Perk vibes 😏✨ Had the best time with my brother and sister at FriendsFest yesterday! We spend all of our time watching the episodes on repeat (like any self-respecting millennial) and it was incredible to see the sets and goof around together for a few hours, dressed like Rachel Green with my Gucci bag (“it's spelled like Gucky, which can be confusing”). Except from when a seven-year-old PUSHED ME OVER by Joey's Barcalounger. Fun fact: I used that copy of Vogue in my dissertation! #FriendsFestive
Instagram post 2192254609316598078_30616375 I finished reading this over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The Flat Share is a chick lit with a twist; I really enjoyed the sub-plots and clever character building throughout, but for some reason didn't adore the book. Beady-eyed readers who also follow me on Goodreads will know I rated it three stars which seems harsh, but simply means I enjoyed the book but wouldn't recommend it to a general audience and I wouldn't reread it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have you read this book yet? #DaisybutterReads
Instagram post 2191316238771439516_30616375 “We can go drivin' in, on my scooter... Uh, you know, just riding in London...” 🎶. L O N D O N · G I R L :: Absolutely thrilled to share this masterpiece shot by @sianshoots. The moment I heard @taylorswift 'London Boy', I knew I wanted to capture it all, dressed in my @stellamccartney × Taylor look. I'm not from London and nor do I live there; but some of the best chapters of my life began here. My first writing job, falling in love, spontaneously buying designer bags on Bond Street, cab rides with friends in a drunken mess, food tours with my girls, hours-long walks, all amidst a grey drizzly haze. It all happened, and happens, here. London, you're so special. P.S. I have categorically never watched rugby in a pub with his mates 😂 ph. @sianshoots
