This post is in conjunction with Petplan but all thoughts are my own.
I’m the sort of dog Mama who always celebrates his birthday, so with Christmas just around the corner, I’ve of course taken it upon myself to make sure Milo has a day just as great as we hopefully will!
From presents to an Advent calendar of his own, Milo is truly spoiled as a bonafide member of the family, maybe even the most important and spoiled one of all of our Chai clan. Last year for instance, Dad took special measures to prepare Milo a full Christmas dinner — doggy-friendly! — on Christmas Eve. No tinned food for his canine royal highness in this household.
Harvey and I popped out at the weekend to pick up all of the dogs’ essentials (he has two!), as I’ve found that year-on-year, the best Christmas goodies sell out really quickly. Thankfully this year Petplan, a.k.a. the UK’s top pet insurance providers and the provider Milo has been with since we brought him home, have created a truly special treat: the Pet Advent Calendar! Each day you’ll be able to enter a different competition to win daily prizes, from luxury pet beds to a special stocking, and even a dog-friendly cottage getaway. On top of all of Milo’s goodies that he’ll be ‘unwrapping’ on Christmas Day, I’m hoping we can win something extra in the Petplan Advent.
Top of the gifting list for my favourite pup is a new squeak toy. Milo absolutely adores these longer toys as they fit nicely in his mouth and he’ll carry his raccoon around all day long. He gets a new one every Christmas and loves it more each time! We’ve also picked up a dog treats stocking; as we’re in the midst of moving, this will be a brilliant way to make sure he has plenty of general and training treats for the Christmas period and throughout January.
Speaking of treats, we’ve also picked up a new Kong for Milo. These toys are great for brain-training and keep pups cognitive function ticking over. We picked this one up from The Range and it comes with an ‘everlasting treat’ that can be replaced. Milo enjoys playing with his Kong after his morning walk, and I can’t wait for him to see his new one!
As Milo, Marley and Pixie (Harvey’s dogs!) often enjoy playdates together, we’re scheduling a festive puppy playdate where they can have a little party with Pawsecco (such a gimmick, but also ridiculously cute and the dogs seem to love it) and these dog pup-cakes. I always pick these up for Milo’s birthday party in January and they love them, although they never get a whole one each.
How will you and your pets be celebrating Christmas together this year?
