Forgive me for the somewhat odd title today, but I wanted to document some of my ‘favourites’ that I’ve heavily relied on throughout lockdown in the UK. These continue to be historical, unprecedented times, unlike any before. I’ve read about people likening it to wartime, but I’m completely of the belief that it isn’t. We haven’t had to collectively survive on ration coupons, there are no air sirens punctuating tense skies. The enemy is invisible. But before this descends into a rant about the British government, let’s get stuck in on my can’t-be-withouts…

Modibodi Period Underwear
I’ve already been using period underwear for over a year, so when lockdown began, I was excited to see if I could solely rely on them, knowing that I wouldn’t be outdoors at all. Without getting TMI, I have really heavy, crippling periods. I go through super tampons on the hour, and had always found tampons exacerbated cramps, yet sanitary towels were not always convenient. And, of course, both are not sustainable products. Anyway, my Modibodi underwear has been nothing short of a godsend! They’re absolutely brilliant for my heavy days and last the entire day. When I head for my evening shower, I simply rinse them through, pop them in the wash, and put a new pair on.
The whole period underwear phenomenon is pretty pricey to get started with. Over the last 18 months I’ve been investing in a new pair every few paydays, and now have three pairs of Modibodi pants and three THINX pants. The Modibodi are great for heavy days, but the THINX definitely feel better. I’ve also pictured the DAME reusable tampon applicator, which I’ve used less, but is still an absolute dream.
Enjoy £15 your first order over £55 by shopping with me. This is a referral link from my last order with them; I am not affiliated with Modibodi, sadly!

Dear, Klair’s Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish
Like many people, my skin has been a bit all over the place during lockdown. It’s definitely a combination of stress, anxiety, and not being outdoors as much. My skin is always much nicer to handle when the air is a little dewy and humid, so it’s safe to say it hasn’t been its best whilst indoors (A mini humidifier is on my list of things to invest in!)
I must have repurchased the Dear. Klair’s Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish a million times by now. Or maybe three times… Nevertheless, it is one of my favourite skincare products. My skin has been so dry and flaky, and oddly bumpy, recently, and this is a total saviour. I always look forward to the nights when this is in my routine, and I use it around three times a week. A dream.

Dalgona Coffee
I can’t bake for toffee, so my lockdown activity has been making Dalgona coffee by the bucketload. It’s certainly a treat and a huge faff, but oh so delicious. Plus, with some almond Bailey’s added in the mix, it makes a great edible segue into the weekend! I shared the recipe a few weeks ago; find it here.

Yuyu Hot Water Bottle
Apparently all I’m doing in this post is talking about my period. Oops. But I had to give some airtime to my Yuyu hot water bottle. This was a gift from Harvey a few Christmases ago, and I use it constantly. Of course it’s an essential during chilly UK nights (I really feel the cold!), but the best thing about a Yuyu is that it’s made for pain relief. Like I said, I suffer from crippling cramps and often pass out and/or throw up. This bottle can be tied around your body and worn however you wish, and it’s been a game-changer whilst working from home for a number of years.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
How could I share this post without paying homage to my beloved Animal Crossing?! Somehow I’ve racked up over 320 hours of play time in New Horizons, but I think most of that must be from queuing to sell my damn turnips. Two months in, and I am absolutely besotted with this game. I loved New Leaf, but the limitless opportunities to decorate and change up your island in New Horizons are just great. In fact, I recently shared an Island Tour video on YouTube — yep!

BYREDO Bibliothèque Scented Candle
Right at the start of lockdown, I decided to treat myself to a fancy candle. It made perfect sense: it’d up the cosy vibes, I would be home all the time so I could justify the three/four burns, we’d just moved. So I finally invested in the BYREDO Bibliothèque Scented Candle and I adore it. I still have a good half of my Burning Rose candle, but Bibliothèque has been a dream to light on these cosy, always-home days.
What have been some of your lockdown saviours?
