Sundaze 265: Exclusive content, autumn dates and a Discord meet-up

Happy Sunday, my loves!

I took last fortnight ‘off’ from this Sundaze series for a few reasons, but I was so excited to put the kettle on, brew an English breakfast tea and settle in on the sofa in our conservatory room to round up some of the things that I’ve been up to lately. I’ve spent a lot of time with my nose in my books and journal recently – it’s about time I returned here with a non-scheduled post.

I’m sharing exclusive bonus content on Ko-Fi!

First of all, I’m really excited to share that I’ll be posting some exclusive bonus content on my Ko-Fi page again. Like I recently mentioned, I’ve started to feel a bit strange about revealing all on a public blog but there are still things I’d like to say. My Ko-Fi will be a place for me to share longer personal updates, post bonus content alongside public blog posts, and offer you a little extra to read.

You can head over to support me right now, if you’d like.

Autumn dates

My boyfriend and I have enjoyed a few autumnal date days in London recently. The city is somewhat nearby (it’s a 40-minute train ride in!) and, now that I no longer work there, I wanted to begin to enjoy London again. And, the city makes it so easy to appreciate the season! London is just beautiful in autumn: on one day, we took a walk across Hampstead Heath and to my beloved The Hills Garden and Pergola, then on another we wandered through Regent’s Park and enjoyed dinner on the canal at Darcie & May Green.

A wholesome Discord meet-up

Last week, I popped into London (again) to meet some of my Discord community for a very wholesome dinner. It was so much fun to finally meet Callie and Heather in real life – I spent hundreds of hours in-game with them and it felt surreal to hang out face-to-face! We ate at Ave Mario, part of the Big Mamma group, and it was such a lovely evening with delicious food (although the service was sloooow!).

Even though my Discord is now somewhat derelict, as everybody returned to their busy non-lockdown lives, I am forever glad for the community I built. It was the best safe space for us all to connect over Animal Crossing: New Horizons and our other shared gaming loves, but also to escape real life and still chat about books, TV shows and all sorts of things.

My Discord is still up and running now, and I’m always online, if you’d like to belatedly join a now very quiet community space.

I was brave and had a scary hospital appointment

2023 has been a health rollercoaster and, after six months of waiting, I finally had a big hospital appointment. I’d felt anxious about it for weeks beforehand, hence the lack of real-time posts and uptick in scheduled content. On one hand, I was desperate for answers, yet on the other, I was terrified about what the answers would be. Thankfully, my boyfriend has been the biggest pillar of support – I’m not sure what I would’ve done without him!

Thankfully, the ultrasound scans didn’t flag anything to be worried about, but it does mean I’m still without answers. Onwards to the next steps, I guess.

My sister and I went to see S Club!

Last night, my sister and I went to see S Club at The O2 in London! She picked tickets up for us as part of my birthday present earlier this year and we’ve been so excited. I was the hugest S Club 7 (and Juniors!) fan as a kid, and my friends and I even covered their songs for my sister’s birthday party once. (Cringe!) We drove in and popped for a quick early dinner at Sticks and Sushi, before heading over. S Club were expectedly great and it was such a fun, nostalgic night. Time is healing.

My journalling era deepens

Now that I’m feeling more settled at my new-ish role, I am firmly back in my journalling era and it feels so good. Not only that, I’m finding the sessions themselves more valuable – they’re unlocking a deeper sense of self. I typically write after my home-cooked dinner time: I’ll grab my notebook and favourite MUJI 0.38 pen, start a comfort watch on my laptop, and write.

There’s a LOT going on in my life and the wider world at the moment and these precious daily hour-long rituals are a really grounding practice for me.

  1. This Medium article articulates a lot of my own recent career thoughts.
  2. Equally enjoyed this one about managerial skills.
  3. Sorely tempted by this cosy knit made from recycled materials and RAS alpaca wool.

Hope you all had a magical October!
