My Cosy Soft Life Reset Routines

A good routine can set up for some really good habits, so it’s no wonder that reset routines have really captured our attention online recently.

Although I think life should still retain a little spontaneity for everyday magic, I’m genuinely quite fond of a good reset routine here and there. In fact, my daily, weekly and monthly resets did a wonderful job in making my 2023 feel, well, just pretty darned nice. Like many other thirty-somethings, my life has some semblance of structure (work, errands, housework, social life) but I really need flexibility, and my reset routines allow for the perfect mix between both.

Since I work a 9-5 job and live my best corporate girlie life, I often find I don’t have a huge amount of wiggle room for any sort of routine. As ever, take these ‘routines’ with a pinch of salt. On reflection, they’re really more cornerstones of a reset to maintain a cosy, soft life and some calm amidst the often-chaos. I don’t do them in any particular order but, together, they create a magical balance for me.

Daily reset

  • Gym session
  • Make my bed
  • Mid-morning 15-minute book and tea break
  • Homemade lunch (in case I lose motivation and order dinner in!)
  • Digital device clean, desk clean and tidy away
  • WhatsApp (0)
  • Wear an outfit, even if it’s elevated loungewear.

Weekly reset

  • Deep clean kitchen and bathroom areas
  • Laundry-folding session
  • End-of-week reflection journalling
  • Set up bullet journal/calendar for the week ahead
  • Write food shopping list and meal plan
  • Big groceries shop
  • Meal prep and/or ingredients prep
  • Inbox (0)
  • Pinterest session for life inspiration and motivation.

Monthly reset

  • Re-jig wardrobe/drawers so everything feels fresh and properly folded
  • Solo date
  • Update monthly wallpaper on my laptop
  • Refresh phone set-up (and move Instagram so it takes longer to find)
  • Set up bullet journal/calendar for the month ahead
  • Gifts and cards list!
  • One-hour Pinterest session
  • Fridge and freezer reset
  • Review and update budget sheet.

What are your non-negotiables for a good day, week or month?
