Petite joys
Summer is in full swing now that the solstice made its brief greeting, and it’s done me the world of good. A splash of sun on the skin each morning before I tread back into the (home) office; evening dog walks as the sun glows and shares its light with wildflowers everywhere. It’s a dream, and it’s helping the brain fog shift.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Morning coffees enjoyed perched on Dad’s vegetable box.
二. Redesigning my living room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – I even filmed it for YouTube! (I realised that all of my content that doesn’t show my face outperforms everything, so… make of that what you will. Haha.)
三. A particularly delicious broccoli and mushroom pesto pasta, made with fresh basil pesto, enjoyed on a blanket in our garden.
四. How great it feels to be extra-productive at work, and to receive lovely feedback on your words.
五. Exploring my creativity through Animal Crossing Twitter and Instagram! It’s such a wonderful community, and I’m just sad I felt ‘embarrassed’ to create content beyond my initial Nintendo partnership in 2012.
六. Gulping down ice-cold water on warmer-than-warm days.
七. Our dog walk on Tuesday night; deliciously hot yet breezy, with sunlight radiating through trees and across wildflowers in plain sight.
八. Hearing little baby (well, bump!) updates from my best friend. You have no idea how excited I am to finally see her in a few months’ time!
九. The Hotel Chocolat Nutmilk Batons. Absolutely incredible.
十. Naeun’s new drama, Dinner Date! I haven’t watched a K-drama in months (and I’m gutted about it), but this is the perfect way to get back into it.
