Sundaze 178

This week completely slipped through my fingers, and I suppose it was because I spent all of Bank Holiday Monday reading a book and playing Animal Crossing in my pyjamas, an d then in back-to-back meetings when I got back to work. I’ve also been working through a ball of anxiety nestled in my stomach, and trying to get back to feeling at a neutral ‘good’ again. Nevertheless, there’s not much that some home cooking, cosy evenings under a blanket and chats with good friends can’t fix.

#BoycottMulan

With the virtual premiere of Disney’s live-action Mulan this week, I couldn’t not nod to the controversies surrounding it. Personally I haven’t watched it and I don’t plan to either. Not only is the production crew completely white, resulting in the film having a white lens, the cast have been vocal in their support of police brutality, which I am vehemently against. There isn’t much more to say aside from that but, of course, do your own research and come to your own decisions.

Hanging out with Sarah

On Tuesday I had a day booked off work, and so Sarah and I planned to meet up for the first time since March! As I’ve spoken about countless times, we usually enjoy weekly lunch dates in London, and the last one we had was the day before both our offices imposed a working-from-home rule. I drove down to Reigate and we enjoyed lunch on the hill — vegan pancakes for me, a sausage butty for Sarah — before embarking on a 7km walk down and up the hill. I’ve felt so anxious about venturing any further afield than the next town over from us, but it definitely helped to ease that. And, it’s always good to enjoy a little wilderness tonic.

Fresh (as a daisy) nails

And, of course, I rounded off the week with a fresh gel mani. To mark late summer and imminent autumn, I opted for a buttery cafe latte shade with scattered daisies. If you’re in the North Hertfordshire area, I really recommend visiting Jo at Paintbox Nails. Her nail art is absolutely flawless, she’s completely trustworthy in terms of hygiene and safety (operating from her own beauty studio in the garden), and she has a studio puppy and kitten! What more could you want?!
