Sundaze 252: Paris Fashion Week, Life Admin and Another Cold Snap

Happy Sunday my loves!

I can hardly believe another week has passed. After the slow trudge through January and an illness-ridden February, March seems to be racing by. Of course it helps that I kick-started it with a trip…! This week has been more about getting things done and adjusting my life back to a normal(ish) pace again. And it’s felt good! I finally got ‘round to checking things off my master to-do list from January – proof that time is arbitrary. Self-imposed deadlines are whack.

Paris Fashion Week

After several years away from working purely in fashion, I still feel pinch-myself-lucky to be back. This week (and some of last) was Paris Fashion Week, which meant an incredibly busy season of work for me. We showed on Monday morning and it was a real success all-round! It’s surreal seeing your words on runway benches and across major publications. Moreover, I’m really proud to be part of a team and brand that priorities the wellbeing of animals, the environment, the planet and its people.

Getting my life in order

I started my week with a sudden burst of energy, which I quickly funnelled into getting through some life admin tasks that I’d been putting off for longer and longer.

First, a consolidation of my bank accounts and moving money to savings accounts with better interest rates, alongside little benefits that work well for me right now. This sort of thing is good to do every year or two, especially during this Cost of Living crisis, yet I hadn’t given mine a second glance since 2018! If you’re stuck, UK friends, you can read some simple and informative articles on Which? and MoneySavingExpert.

Then, I finally brought out a few tote bags’ full of books and scanned them through Ziffit to sell. While I do have a sizeable and enviable book collection/home library, it was beginning to feel overwhelming to me. Instead, I want to curate a collection of books that I absolutely LOVE and would reread or want to pass down to children and friends. I decluttered 32 on Monday and, who knows, perhaps I’ll have the energy to get rid of a few more this evening.

Lastly, I packed up a few stacks of good-quality clothes that either no longer fit me or aren’t to my style anymore, and popped them in some Oxfam bags ready to be picked up. I’ve discovered lately that many of my favourite local charity shops are completely swamped with donations, so this has been really helpful and convenient too.

Yet another cold snap

Here in England, we’re in the throes of the coldest March on record and, boy, does it feel it! While I’m all for embracing every season, even I am completely over it now. Instead, I’ve welcomed in plenty of reading – I finished The Muse by Jessie Burton and started Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons as my post-Rome reading – and leaned into spending time on my Switch and delving into my Netflix list.

My boyfriend and I started yesterday with a yoga class and breakfast at a local café, before picking up a sushi feast and heading home for a You marathon day. And, do you know what? I’m not mad. Sometimes you really need to lean into what the seasons are telling you: it’s time to stay warm and rest.
