Open-hearted joys 開開心心 59

It truly feels like it’s been only minutes since I last wrote one of these, but another fortnight has raced by in the blink of an eye. Life has been busy and relaxed at the same time, and I’ve been very thankful for the little things in-between the chaos. I can also definitely feel autumn now, too, and it’s been a joy in itself to add an extra layer in here and there, welcome in some cosy autumnal meals and make peace, even, with the cooling weather.

There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer, details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite, open-hearted joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:

一. My AW23 wardrobe all laid out. I tackled the seasonal style switch-out the Sunday before last and it always makes me feel so organised and creatively refuelled to see a fresh(ish) stack of clothes ready to wear. I also installed some battery-powered strip lights around the inside of my wardrobe doorframe, meaning it feels like a true luxury experience to get dressed!

二. Traction on a new project of mine! Stay tuned.

三. Already feeling settled and welcomed to my new role. I’ve had plenty of career chats with myself in recent months, but I’m finally feeling at peace with myself.

四. Setting up a bullet journal for the first time in months. I settled on a bullet system for my new work notebook, which has always worked well for me professionally.

五. Hazy sunrises and morning cuddles perched on the porch step with Milo (my dog) and a cup of tea. Clad in a fluffy dressing gown of course.

六. Finally reading Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang at last!

七. An evening at Bancone with my Stella marketing girls! The kale and chilli rigatoni was *chef’s kiss*

八. How it feels to have the week’s meals, prepped.

九. Falling asleep at just 9.30pm after my second day at the new role! I’d forgotten how info-heavy it was when starting a new job…

十. Selling lots on Vinted… then finding a bunch of great bargains too! I ticked off all of my seasonal top-up items this past fortnight. Secondhand wins!
