Petite joys

In between snow flurries and the new ASA guidelines that have kicked up a fuss in the community, I thought it’d be an apt moment to share another list of the things that’ve made me happy recently. I added in a gratitude list page to my monthly bullet journal spreads and it’s definitely helped to take the edge off the usual January gloom.

This week has been a fairly slow one. Work hasn’t really picked back up yet and I’m currently in the classic ‘I will never be booked again pls help me’ phase, although I know that’s fairly unlikely. So, I’ve been using my spare time to amp up the marketing for my business, popping to gym classes, and getting a LOT of reading in.

There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:

一. A cup of tea when it’s -2°C outside. Bliss.

二. Arriving at The Mandolay last week to discover that my best friend had upgraded Harvey and I to a suite! We felt sooo fancy. Of course it was so that the bridal squad could take over room as well as hers, but let’s pretend that wasn’t the reason…!

三. Watching my best friend marry her best friend.

四. Our first snow of the year!! I absolutely love watching snowfall, it was easily my January magic highlight.

五. A gulp of cool water after a particularly tough Barre class.

六. Surviving a train journey home with no panic attacks!! In fact, I’ve now successfully taken four train rides on my own without having a panic attack!

七. Milo’s sheer joy when we opened the front door and he saw a blanket of snow. That boy loves the stuff! Oh and his wild roomies in said snow.

八. Opening up a new Murakami novel for the first time in months! He’s my favourite author by far, and I’ve been so excited to finally read Killing Commendatore.

九. The potential of new beginnings.

十. When you accidentally fall into step with the person walking beside you and have to stifle a giggle (or four).

What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
