Our Coffee Table Travel Photo Books

Something that has brought me boundless joy this year is finally getting around to printing our travel photos. With the aid of smartphones, memory-capturing is more accessible than ever and I just love those quiet, cosy evenings where we sit on the sofa and scroll back through Instagram photo carousels, Facebook memories and old photos from years’ back. As a child, I loved doing the same with Mum and Dad’s albums of their holidays together, their wedding, and time-honoured, sepia-kissed images of those no longer with us and that I’d never met.

I always lament: ‘It’s such a shame we don’t have photo albums of our memories’.

But, what was stopping me?

So, I set about making a change, amidst my social media detox, and an overall want to move towards tangible objects that helped me feel and be more present. Top of that list was to design and make some beautiful photo books that we’d actually reach for. I’ve previously printed some with Papier, but stumbled upon Photobubble on Instagram, who have a gorgeous ‘L’allure Coffee Table Book’ design.

The CMS is easy to use, and there’s a layout function where you can create fun grids of your photos, and even add captions. I did this for two of our albums, but used one-photo-per-page for the others. You can customise the covers of these too! I couldn’t find the destinations that we’d been to, so I chose one with the colours and image I wanted, then updated the city name. And, I’m absolutely obsessed with the finished books. I’m constantly flicking through to revisit our travel memories – the velvet touch covers feel so luxurious, as do the glossy inside pages. We’ll be displaying them in our bookcase in the lounge, as well as on the coffee table, and I think they’re perfectly designed to be décor as well as a memento.
