Seemingly Small Upgrades to My Everyday

In the spirit of the New Year, I got to thinking about the resolution I made for 2024: to improve my life by 1% every day. It was the best goal I’ve ever set because it’s extremely low stakes and it meant I could take stock of my life daily. In essence, I wanted my tomorrow to be 1% better than today and this could look like anything from lunch was too salty, so I shouldn’t add as much seasoning tomorrow to take a walk because I didn’t today. Now that we’re in 2025, I can safely say it was so worth it.

And, as I mull over what 2025 holds for me, I thought I’d share a bunch of the things I did last year to improve my life. Here are the seemingly small upgrades I made to my everyday:

  • Packing homemade lunches for office days.
  • … In glass Tupperware and into an insulated lunch bag, of course.
  • Making one of my in-office lunch breaks a non-negotiable solo one.
  • Early nights and early mornings.
  • Having a book (or Kindle) on hand at all times.
  • Ginger shots.
  • Upgrading to an electric car.
  • Taking time to keep a bullet journal and flex my creativity and logic skillset.
  • Adding in an extra day in the office to my hybrid schedule.
  • Never working out fasted (on an empty stomach).
  • Changing my workout routine up with a weekly Reformer Pilates class alongside strength.
  • Leaving my phone in another room while I work/read/cook/live.
  • Social media-free days and weekends.
  • Drinking warm water (half boiling, half cold tap) or peppermint tea.
  • Replacing oat milk with soy.
  • Doing away with routines by time or hour, and just having two or three focuses per day.
  • Making time to properly reply to messages.
  • Sleeping for at least 8-10 hours a day.
  • Subscribing to The Good Trade and The Know newsletters – doses of happy in my emails.
  • Investing in stocks as well as saving into a high-interest account.
  • Using my Camp Snap Camera for in-the-moment film-style photographs.
  • Decorating my Kindle with cute stickers every few weeks (or days).

What are some small improvements you’d like to add in throughout 2025?
