Sundaze 306: Let’s catch up

Happy Sundaze, my loves!

Oh it feels good to be writing something a little less serious and to be back to my favourite thing to write. I think we technically celebrated 10 years of this Sundaze series back in January, isn’t that a marvel?! During my time ‘off’ from here, I focused a lot on recovering from burnout and, subsequently, doing a lot less. I’ve already written about that, but I do feel miles better for not trying to do absolutely everything. Nine times out of ten, the solution is to keep things simple and strip it back to the essentials. I also got to thinking about how much of everything and everybody we see all the time, and wondered whether I am somebody that should be contributing to that. Yet, Daisybutter has always been my safe space online and it was before social media, so I think it shall continue to be now that I’m on social media much less. The nosy parker in me loves seeing thoughtful windows into others’ lives!

Our Easter weekend

Easter weekend completely rejuvenated me. After working on my burnout, these four days off from my day job were a dream. I spent them mostly unplugged and have almost no photos to share, which is a sign of a weekend well-spent! Eddie and I enjoyed bluebell woodland walks, a farm shop peruse and cheered his sisters on in their half marathon, I popped to an acupuncture appointment, my family and I spent Tomb Sweeping Day together, and then I even squeezed in a coffee-and-a-walk date with one of my best friends. Our life feels so full at the moment and I’m soaking up every second.

Spring is in season

Now that spring is fully here, I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors again. From gardening to longer walks, I feel like I’m coming alive again after what felt like the longest winter ever. The hydrangeas that Dad planted for us are full of leaves, our garden is lively with daffodils, and my lemon tree is already budding again. Inside the house, we’ve been busy installing alcove shelving and making a few seasonal tweaks to the living room. Plus, we’re prepping to host Eddie’s sister for the summer again!

I found my wedding dress!

Last month, we made lots of big decisions for our wedding, paid the first installment, and then I started wedding dress-shopping! I thought that searching for a wedding dress would be a longer process, but I ended up finding The One in the first bridal boutique that we visited. Needless to say, I’m completely over the moon and things are feeling very exciting and real now. We’re planned in for a weekend of appointments with vendors next month, and I can’t wait! Wedding planning as a whole has been a complete joy so far, and so unlike the nightmarish stories some of my friends told me.

‘Word Play’ in London

On Thursday, my colleagues and I popped into London for our seasonal team day. They often come with a fun creative workshop, and this time we were treated to ‘Word Play’, hosted by fellow copywriter Andrew Boulton. It was really great fun and I found myself feeling so much more rejuvenated to write and enjoy myself a little more in doing so.
