Sundaze 308: A weekend in Venice, summer mood and locking in

Happy Sundaze, my loves!

There’s a brief break from today’s ceaseless rain and a sunbeam is gracing my pink library room walls, which feels like the perfect time to settle down and catch up with you all. Life is truly running at 100mph at the moment, and I’m sad that I still haven’t returned to my previous cadence of blogging. How are you doing?

Eddie and I are recently home from a long weekend away. We wanted to celebrate a few anniversaries, and Venice proved to be just as romantic as I thought it’d be. More on that later! Our flight home on Tuesday night was wildly delayed. We ended up missing our train home, and having to cheekily ask my uncle for a lift home at 2am in the morning. An hour and a half, M25 closures and general chaos later, we got back at 4am… Just in time for me to start work at 8am(!) Honestly, my body has not recovered from the sleep deprivation. And then work has been hectic as well! To top it all off, I had booked in things like after-work nail and lash appointments, Reformer Pilates and a coffee date with a friend. I am so glad it’s Sunday. Time for a reset, a run, and then to pop into London for plans with Emmie.

A long weekend in Venice

Our weekend in Venice was so lovely! I’ve wanted to visit for a long time, and it was just as romantic and picturesque as I’d imagined. Exploring Venice’s canals, marvelling at more Italian Renaissance architecture, chomping our way around the restaurants… It was the perfect long weekend. Although, I was definitely taken aback by the volume of tourists! (I know, I know, we were two of them!)

That summer feeling!

Following the heatwave and then a summery Italian getaway, I have definitely gotten the summer feeling. I’m so excited to relax my plans and rituals a little, read more, run more, spend time outdoors and be a little more spontaneous now that the weather (and lighter evenings) allow for it. Inspired by Liz, I’m building a ‘summer reading list’ and just can’t wait to lounge in the garden with my stack of books and perhaps a homemade lemonade or two. From friends’ weddings to family holidays, garden picnics to long walks, I am pretty thrilled for the sun to be back in England.

Locking in

I feel so lethargic and sluggish after our Italy trip: I was so locked in to my fitness goals and regime that even a few days out from it has made me feel less than 100%. Since it was a busy week, I ended up out of routine for the rest of this week. Needless to say, I am itching to get back to routine tomorrow! I can’t wait for my nature walks, to cook again, and to hang out with my gym buddies!
