A Six-Month 2026 Goals Check-In

It’s a time-honoured blogger adage, but… I can hardly believe we’re already six months into 2026! Really and truly, it feels like just yesterday that I was mulling over what I wanted to ‘get’ out of the year and now we’re already halfway through. I had a bit more of a relaxed approach to goals and resolutions, like I have for a few years now. Gratefully, I realised that I’m quite content with the person I’ve become and am becoming, and that I’m much of the ‘right’ paths for how I want my life to feel. Yay!
That being said, it wouldn’t be Daisybutter without one or two things to check off, so I thought I’d check in on my publicly shared goals with you all (and hopefully motivate myself towards a few of them!).
Read my physical TBR
Forgive me friends, for I have sinned. Well, sort of.
In January, I added my owned TBR books to a The StoryGraph challenge, so I could gamify the goal a little. According to those logged stats, I’ve read 43% of those books! However, I must caveat that I’ve developed quite the habit of buying (beautiful) secondhand copies of books I’ve wanted for a while. So, while I’ve made a dent in my physical TBR… I’ve also grown it extensively. For now, this goal will just refer to the books I’d added to my original challenge.
Finish the second draft of my novel
Good lord. I am nowhere near this. Not even close.
Reread more of my personal library
Perhaps it’s because I’ve been focused on my physical TBR shelf, but I’m semi-failing this goal. So far, I’ve reread three books (Piranesi, Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre), and I’ve just been too tempted by the shiny ARCs I’m offered and the books patiently waiting on the TBR. Hopefully I’ll be able to reread a couple more books later this year.
Plan our wedding!
This has been my most blissful focus in 2026, and I’m loving it! Eddie and I are making great progress with planning our wedding, and I’m lapping up the anticipation of being a 2027 bride. I even recently shared some wedding-planning updates! It’s been really lovely to turn our usual date nights into wed-min date afternoons – we’re both so excited to see our hard work come together and to step into a new chapter together.
Start my studies
Done and done. I started my TCM studies in January and diligently kept up with weekly webinars, calls and assignments. Despite being an academic person when I was younger, and being somebody that loves to read and learn now, I found it really hard to get my head in the game during the first few weeks. But, I’m delighted to share that I passed the course a few weeks ago!
Continue to be guarded with my diary
I’ve been great at this one, and I’m finding it easier to enforce my own boundaries. As a result, I’m a more present person at the occasions I do say ‘yes’ to. Life in 2026 is hectic: between balancing a 9-5, planning a wedding, keeping a fitness ritual, being a present friend/fiancée/sister/daughter, and all the rest that the world and political climate chucks at us, it’s important to maintain boundaries and take a little time for myself.
Become an OMNES girlie
Ugh. Friends. I am thoroughly disappointed to share that my attempts at becoming an OMNES girlie have not worked out. Perhaps their fit guides have changed, but nearly everything I’ve ordered has been too big or too small. To add insult to injury, their returns process is terrible and it once took me more than a month to receive my refund, despite them having received the products. (I had to call up three times!)
