As I pen this edition of ‘Petite joys’, it’s 11.02pm and I’ve literally been caught out at the eleventh hour. I’ve fallen into quite the routine with writing at the moment: writing for clients, writing for myself, writing for Daisybutter… How did I let this get away from me?! I mean, let’s just blame the abundance of Easter chocolate. This handful of days has felt particularly serene and slow in a way that I didn’t know I needed. I’m ridiculously pleased I booked myself in for a series of self-care appointments because I feel pretty great, now!
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:
一. The gentle crackle of my candles, burning as I read my way through the evenings.
二. Deciding, quite firmly, that I’m ‘done’ with Twitter for the day by 6pm. (An absolute weight off my shoulders!)
三. Thursday afternoon’s hot stone massage. (A literal weight off my shoulders!)
四. The peculiar way that you can be anxious about something for 6 solid hours, and then life will grant the answer or solution the moment those hours pass.
五. Half price Creme Eggs.
六. A morning spent wandering the perimeter of the lake, petting every dog on the way ‘round.
七. The Brooklyn Blend in our family French press; all for myself.
八. Planning + plotting for our vegetable patch!
九. How satisfyingly slim my phone feels outside its’ case.
十. A particularly great lower body workout on a slow Tuesday evening.
