Petite joys

Buckle up, because it’s time to recount the little things that make me happy for another year! When it came to planning my content for 2019, I dithered about refreshing this series but then I figured: why fix what isn’t broken? This series continues to be one of my most popular and I absolutely love writing them. In fact, I enjoy it so much that I’ve added a page to my bullet journal that’s devoted to noting down everyday gratitude.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:
一. Celebrating 28 years of my boyfriend! It was Harvey’s birthday yesterday and we decided to wrap up warm, catch a train to London and visit the Sky Garden for the first time, before venturing to The Vurger Co. at long last.
二. Fresh air, first thing in the morning. Ebony, Tamsyn and I embarked on a 7k walk in the Forest of Dean at the weekend and it was truly something else!
三. A restorative Pilates class with my amazing instructor, Katrina. It was my first of the year and I loved every minute of it.
四. Our Aglio e Olio recipe of dreams.
五. Stumbling across £1 books of stickers, perfect for bullet journalling. My sister and I picked up a pack each!
六. Driving to pick Dad up, tracing paths beneath a navy blanket of stars.
七. The feeling of finishing my first book of the year.
八. Realising you’re up 10 minutes before your alarm, so you can enjoy a sneaky 10-minute phone scroll.
九. Our attentive waitress at Pizza Hut, who intuitively and kindly helped us navigate the salad bar after we ordered their new vegan pizza.
十. Spotting pink, winter-flowering shrubs lining the paths near home. Such a pleasant surprise in dull January!
