Petite joys

I’m having one of the most productive and inspiring working weeks that I’ve had in months! Consequently, I’ve been finishing work at around 3:30pm on each day – my ideal time! – and have had plenty of time to read, watch Love Island season two on Netflix and work on the blog instead. After a bit of a meltdown at the weekend over dinner with my boyfriend, I feel much calmer now and am, as ever, discovering that life is peachy keen when you consider the minutiae of everyday life.

There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:

一. A dim sum date with my girl Millie, who is one of the best people to exist. God bless Taylor Swift for, once again, uniting me with my kind of people.

二. Golden hour dog walks with my mister Milo.

三. Piping hot coffees with a dash of oat milk. It’s been such a joy to devour a hot drink now that the heatwave has calmed down!

四. Finally reading Crazy Rich Asians and confirming that it is 100% my type on paper. Literally.

五. Listening to the curious, happy rustle of leaves in this midsummer breeze.

六. When you reach the end of the salt and pepper mills at the exact same time.

七. Mum’s home-baked chocolate chip brioche. Delicious!

八. My new, ultra low maintenance faux eucalyptus from IKEA. It’s great to have some continuity in my bedroom.

九. Last weekend away with my love. Adventures can always be found no matter where you find yourself.

十. Taking an entire afternoon and evening out for myself on Tuesday, where I just watched Netflix, ate pasta, cuddled my dog and pounded through some reading. And not feeling an ounce of guilt for it!

What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
