Petite joys

With my usual routine completely out of the window, it’s safe to say I’m using my bullet journal more than ever to log gratitude. Log seems like the wrong word. I suppose it’s more ‘record’. Yes, that’s the right word.
I’m already looking forward to flicking back through my bullet journal in a few months and recalling the minutiae of everyday life. Not everyday is special, but there’s certainly something special in every day.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:
一. February frost gracing every single spindly, naked branch in the morning. Nobody’s left out.
二. Leaving the office in daylight! Hallelujah.
三. A mid-week lunch date with my girl Sarah. What a star. What a Whistles enabler.
四. This delicious Vegan Mushroom Broccoli Rigatoni with Lemon Garlic Cream Sauce recipe.
五. Putting the world to rights with Millie and finally getting to eat at Mao Chow. It comes SO recommended from us both.
六. Finishing Yaa Gyasi’s ‘Homegoing’, although it’s bittersweet because I’m ridiculously sad that it’s over. I implore you to pick up a copy in your local bookstore.
七. Golden morning light seeping through the trees, 7.42am.
八. Hearing somebody splutter and cough on a train and feeling infinitely grateful for current good health and being able to breathe through my nose. Because eventually I’ll inevitably succumb to the Commuter Cold.
九. Getting into the groove at work and finally not feeling like the ‘new girl’. Freelancer woes.
十. Cuddles with my Milo pup every morning before work.
