Petite joys
TGIF. This week has felt SO long, and I can’t quite put my finger on why. However the one thing that’s been, surprisingly, keeping my spirit bright is this blog. I’m sure you’ve all noticed that my posting has been sporadic throughout lockdown. And it’s mostly been because I can’t seem to see past the constant doom and gloom, or navigate the hazy fog that the government has left us in. But the other day I sat down and planned out so much content and I’ve been having so much fun spilling creativity (not tea) over my laptop, and I can’t wait to hit ‘publish’ on every single one.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Receiving a surprise delivery from work, and it being a new desk chair! I’m beyond grateful that we’re being so continually well-looked after by the business; my back is grateful too.
二. A productive and relaxing bullet journalling session on Sunday afternoon. Throughout lockdown, I hadn’t been practicing what I preach, but getting everything down on paper has done me the world of good. I finally feel 1% on track!
三. How smoke unfurls and curls away, like it’s nothing, after you’ve blown out a candle.
四. Watching Weylie’s YouTube videos, which always feel coming home, and tinylibrarys Animal Crossing streams.
五. Tucking yourself into freshly made bedsheets that’ve been misted liberally with lavender spray. An utter delight.
六. Milo’s. Cute. Lil. Snoot.
七. Belly laughing for almost 15 minutes! I can’t even remember what we were laughing about, but the serotonin felt good.
八. My monthly payday book haul. Gosh there’s not much better than a fresh stack o’ books.
九. Golden prisms of light flooding through the windowpanes, even after a grey, gloomy day.
十. When you see people in public actually wearing masks or face coverings!
What’re some of your petite joys, lately?
