Sundaze 204

Hello you. How was your week?

This week, I feel as though the steps are falling into place a little more easily than before. Work is ticking along in a rhythmic manner, I’m being a little less hard on myself when it comes to ‘making the most of my evenings’, and I’m even coming ‘round to the idea of Going Outdoors. On top of that, I’ve started watching Sailor Moon (1992) from the very start again and it’s bringing back SO many nostalgic, childhood memories.

Little after-lockdown activities

I seem to be working to a bit of a delay when it comes to general lockdown-easing activities. Here in England, a few more restrictions were lifted on Monday and it has really lifted the collective mood. I marvelled at all of the pub garden-goers whilst taking & Chai orders to the Royal Mail Click & Drop box, and then yesterday my family and I even popped to the shops for a little bit! I felt very wary and cautious at the start of the week, but now I’m feeling somewhat ready to tackle the great outdoors. If living through a pandemic and multiple strict lockdowns has taught me anything, it’s to seize any immediate opportunities for joy that become available to me!

My first dip in the metaphorical waters was a nail appointment, something that always helps me feel a little more me. It was so wonderful to catch up with my nail lady, exchange stories, cuddle her pup and be off my phone for an hour or so. And, my nails are now freshly painted and I feel a little more polished.

Saturdaze in the sun

Fellow UK friends, wasn’t it gorgeous in the sunshine yesterday?!

I could hardly believe my luck when I drew the curtains and my phone confirmed that it’d be 16ºC! In true Brit style, I donned something far too optimistic for the actual weather and we popped to the shops and park for a peruse. But that wasn’t enough for this gal, no siree, I grabbed a blanket, a book and a gin to soak up the rays in our garden. It was glorious! I’ve really missed lazy afternoons like these, yet I couldn’t help but think: ‘wouldn’t this be fun with another person in tow?’ Perhaps ya girl is ready to make use of the rule of six.

Back in my reading groove

On that note, I’m finally back to my beloved books! Last weekend I got cosy under a blanket and steamed through The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (would totally recommend! TW/CW: suicide), and then I finished reading the brilliant, just-released Mixed/Other by Natalie Morris in a handful of days. Honestly, I think I’m starting to realise that I’m far more affected by the seasons that I believed… And now, I’m onto the second instalment in the Charlotte Holmes series. I wasn’t 100% sold on the first, but I received the series for Christmas and I suppose every book shares and presents its own lessons, eh? What are you reading at the moment?
