I’m home from my first post/definitely-still-in-pandemic trip to the South of France, and feeling ever so rested and relaxed. Despite being the ultimate homebody, I absolutely love to travel and it feels so nice to be back to it after over two and a half years of being understandably grounded in England. I’ve definitely realised that, as a homebody, it takes a physical separation from my surroundings to truly unplug and let myself really ‘rest’.
There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite, open-hearted joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this fortnight:
一. Working on my reverse bucket list! I’ve got a post coming up about this next week, but it’s been so affirming to trek down memory lane and remember all of the fun things and achievements that I’ve already experienced.
二. A lunch date to get Vietnamese food with a colleague. Feels nice to have befriended somebody at the office and someone that I have SO much in common with!
三. The M&S Plant Kitchen Dark Chocolate Chip Shortbread Rounds. 11/10, couldn’t recommend more!
四. Mornings with Milo in the garden. He potters, while I drink my coffee, and it’s just perfect.
五. My adorable new beaded phone strap. I ordered it from DaintyAndCute on Etsy, and it’s so cute. Hoping it helps me to stop dropping my phone so much.
六. A grill night with Elodie’s parents. Had the most delicious grilled courgettes and aubergines, and soy and paprika sausages on the grill!
七. Salt air. Simply.
八. Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti’s ‘Back to the Beach’ podcast. Fellow Laguna Beach devotees, you absolutely need to listen to this series. Kristin and Stephen watch and commentate all of the original Laguna Beach episodes and it’s so juicy and genuinely interesting.
九. The first night back in your own bed after a holiday.
十. The parrot(?!) I spotted outside of our London office last week. It was so random and, along with some much-needed words of encouragement from my boyfriend, really perked up a stressful week.
What’s a little joy from your life lately?
