Petite joys

It’s been quite a while since I shared one of these lists!

You see, I completely meant to write one from Malaysia and… Well you know the story. But I’m firmly back now and am armed with a whole host of joys from my days to document forever. I’ve had the busiest fortnight since returning home, so much so that it’s been somewhat a comfort to take a few minutes here and there to admire all of the finer things in my everyday mundane.

There’s a lot to be said for appreciating the smaller, not necessarily finer details of the everyday mundane. Here’s to another list of petite joys, the moments that’ve brought and woven poetry to my days, this week:

一. Smoke sleepily drifting up from every other house in the neighbourhood, glimpsed as my train passed through town.

二. My first frost of the season!

三. Fresh coffee, handed to me as I left for London on Sunday morning.

四. The accomplished feeling when you finally finish a book you’ve been struggling to get through (The Essex Serpent, by Sarah Perry).

五. My morning cuppa. God bless Teapigs for kindly sending me their 24 Days of Teapigs advent calendar this year, for it has been a dream to wake up to a fun new tea flavour every morning.

六. Designing the pages, logs and collections for my 2019 bullet journal. I’ve been itching to start a new one and my time has finally come!

七. Afternoon tea with my favourite girls. We haven’t seen each other in so long and even though we speak every minute of every day, it felt so good to catch up properly.

八. Finding the perfect gift for the perfect recipient.

九. A morning chit-chat with Coco’s owner and learning even more about his colourful life.

十. Discovering, quite happily, that three weeks off at the gym didn’t actually set me back at all, weight-training wise.

What’re some of your petite joys lately?
