My Best Purchases from 2022

For several years now, I’ve lived a more conscious lifestyle. Be it choosing purchases that are refillable, recycled, recyclable or even choosing to repair rather than buy new, I’m getting to a better place when it comes to my purchasing power. I feel it more and more, too. Last Christmas, I asked friends to really consider and reconsider if they ‘needed’ to gift me something or whether we could spend a little extra time together instead.

‘Things’ are lovely, but we all have enough – and plenty of – things.

That being said, I did make some wonderful discoveries and investments last year that I’m often asked about. So I thought I’d round up my top purchases from 2022, pieces that I’d wholeheartedly recommend, if you need it…

Stella McCartney Logo Tote Bag

As I hadn’t had a full-time job that required me to carry a laptop (and more) around for YEARS, I was in the market for a spacious vegan bag that looked great and was functional too. After plenty of consideration, I settled on the Stella McCartney Logo Tote Bag, handcrafted from grained vegan leather. It’s beautiful, simple and roomy too. I can stash all of my personal and professional essentials in here and it just goes over the shoulder. It comes with a detachable pouch inside.

Etsy Bag Organiser

My only gripe with the Logo Tote Bag, however, is that it didn’t feature any compartments at all, which is essential for me. I found an Etsy seller that custom makes bag inserts for a whole host of designer bags, and picked up an insert. This has completely changed the game for me and I LOVE how it perfectly fits the bag, as well as how there’s a neat little pocket for everything from pens to AirPods, a book to a bottle, cardholders to laptops.

onegreenbottle Classic Sport 800ml Bottle

A good stainless steel bottle is key for my commuting days, as well as for weekends. I’m obsessed with this one – the 800ml capacity makes it easy to get my daily water intake up and it keeps my drink cool (or warm)!

TALA Polar Longline Puffer Coat

I’m one of those adults that has prioritised the aesthetic of a coat over its practicalities for far too long. And in December, I finally succumbed to the cold and invested in the TALA Polar Longline Puffer Coat. It’s great, if not incredibly long on my 5”3 frame, and so cosy and warm. It’s been perfect for the deep chill, for country walks, and for morning dog walks. Plus, it’s vegan and sustainably made – an all-round winner! I wear an XS and am usually a UK size 6/8.

Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask

After many years of going without my beloved Laneige Water Sleeping Pack/Mask (it’s sadly not vegan!), I discovered the Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask on Cult Beauty. It’s a brilliant alternative, leaving my skin just as dewy, soft and glowy the morning after as the Laneige one used to. I use the mask three times weekly and have repurchased it several times since.

CASETiFY Phone Case

I once used to be someone that bought endless phone cases but, since it’s so wasteful, am gladly enjoying selecting just one per new phone. I upgraded to a Google Pixel 7 Pro in October – I’ve used Google Pixel phones since their first-ever one! – and treated myself to an Agathe Marty design. The illustration is gorgeous, a portion of the proceeds goes to breast cancer awareness charities AND it is genuinely drop-proof! Love!

Notebook Therapy Dotted Notebook

Now that I’m a few weeks into using this notebook as my 2023 bullet journal, I can safely say it is one of my best purchases. I also love the Papier ones (for my own journalling style), but the thick pages of this design and the double ribbon bookmarks make it a real joy to use. I’m already looking forward to choosing my next.
